Getting a new Clarity PHEV at our workplace. *How many amps does the factory-supplied 110v cord draw?* I have a 20A 110v line that is convenient. However, there are some lights and several garage door openers on it (usually only opening 1/time). Honda says I need a dedicated 15A line, so I'm wondering if this 20A will do it. I'm hoping to upgrade to Level 2, 208v 3-phase, but work 'round these parts happens slowly so I'm wondering if this could be a temporary solution. Thanks.
12A. That is the max continuous allowed on a 15A circuit. Your 20A circuit allows continuous 16A. Lights and garage door openers should be fine on that circuit. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
The Clarity seems to draw closer to 10 or 11 A for safety. About one hour after starting charging, check the plug and cord to see if they are warm. They can be warm, but shouldn't be hot. If the plug gets hot check for corrosion on the outlet (outdoor outlets get pretty bad sometimes). The garage door openers could maybe trip a breaker with the car, but shouldn't be risky beyond that. What do you mean when you say "some lights"?
Got about 320 W of lights... definitely need to get those 4 ft tubes converted to LEDs. If my math is right... that's ~2.6A for lights. Also: is the factory cable a "dumb" cable or can I adjust amperage lower to 8-9?
