https://www.engadget.com/2018/07/31/honda-smartcharge-ev-program-beta/ Honda is opening a Beta program to pay FIT EV owners to charge when energy demand is low, and this might be expanded to Clarity owners.
This could make a lot of sense if you have a L2 charger at home and your local electric company could send a message to Honda to start car chargers going. Then they could time it so when demand starts to fall, then could run the chargers. I don't see this being beneficial for L1 charges because sometimes when I plug in when I get home and then leave in the morning, if I was very low it won't have yet given me a full charge. Basically I need all the time. (I am getting a L2 installed here soon -- electrician willing)
Not sure if this is important, but Fit EV uses a different app than the Clarity, whose app is also used with non-plug Hondas.
This may be a long time coming to the Clarity, but it's encouraging to see Honda open to considering including us in the eventual rewards. They already have a good path to individual user charging data with HondaLink, so it looks pretty doable.
