I haven't seen anyone post this yet... https://www.autoblog.com/2020/04/02/honda-gm-electric-cars-2024-north-america/ Is this a good strategy for Honda?
It is far less costly and quicker for them to buy technology and form partnerships then for them to invest in their own development. Yet, as a consumer, I would prefer to buy from the "source"- GM in this case. However, both GM, Honda and the rest will need to catch up with Tesla to stay competitive in the BEV market. GM is spending over $2 billion to set up their first EV manufacturing plant, and 1 or 2 billion more for the battery plant. It's not worthwhile at this time for Honda to invest that much if its partner is already doing so. Eventually they will, but not until sales volumes are high enough, especially with the unknown economic toll that is going on now.
