  1. Yes I second @insightman, well done on your new SE and luck of getting the HK. I didn’t

I just took delivery of my Signature+ (in the USA) and the HK system was included. I didn't get the front parking sensors though.

Did you order the parking assist with your Sig+? That's the only way you would get front parking sensors.

I did, and received a $750 credit upon delivery for the missing feature.

I like the front parking sensors when pulling into a parking space with a bumper block, but because a MINI Cooper is short, it wouldn't be a problem not to have the sensors--I just wouldn't try to snug right up to the bumper block. I've tried the parking assist only once--it was terrifying!

If it's anything like what it was in the BMW i3 I can believe it. I stopped using it once it curbed my wheels.

I tried parking assist once and liked it. It seemed it does the steering, you do the braking and forward/reverse. I can't figure out how to do it again, and since I almost never need to parallel park I haven't put any effort into looking at the Motoring Guide to figure it out.

I think you turn on parking sensors and crawl by the desired parallel parking stall. After the MINI picks up the open spot you come to a full stop and signal accordingly. The only thing I recall is that you have to manually shift into drive/reverse for the fine adjustments.

Street parking doesn't seem like a big deal in USA with the availability of parking garages and parking lots. That's probably most USA deliveries received HK audio in exchange for parking sensors and HUD. I mean how would you feel if your Level 3+ (Shadow Edition or Electric Collection) came with base audio?

When we got our first MINI way back in 2004, it came with a little book of tips and one of them said the proper way to park a short car is to align the rear of the car so it's about even with the cars around you. I typically leave about a foot between the front of the car and the bumper block/stripe.

I always hate when you're in a parking lot and you think there's an open space, but it's a Smart Car or Geo Metro pulled all the way forward.

Yes, this. I refer to pulling all the way in as "ghost parking", since the spot is full but the car isn't visible. I always try to back in (unless I know I'm going to load the hatch), and end up with about 3-4 feet of open space behind my car.
