Does anyone have a general estimate of how many miles each bar of the gas gauge represents? Like, when the gas gauge gets to one bar, how far can you go, or should you immediately get gas? I ask because I am on the phone with my wife as she tries to get home after a long-ish drive. She just dropped to one bar with 38 miles hv range showing, but we all know how reliable that hv range estimate is. It gave her a low fuel warning message with around 60 miles remaining and two fuel bars, which seems early to me. My Prius gave me that warning at about 20 miles remaining.
Let's do the math. 7gal capacity =10 bars on gauge. 1 bar =. 7 gal. Regular driving on gas should get your 300 mi per tank. Dived that by 7 gal, u get about 42mi. So when 1 bar remains, u have about 40-35 mi left to drive on gas. Hopefully that helps.
