My take on it is that if it’s truly happening, it’s a defect...that simple. Likely in computer programming somewhere. A bug that hasn’t been found.

And I freely admit I am totally guessing. I have never experienced it.

I’m also gonna go out on a limb here and say some people may be misinterpreting loss of power, for a simple non-linear relationship between audible engine revs and acceleration.

For example, if the person who percieved a sudden loss of power had been driving the car with noise canceling headphones, so they couldn’t hear the engine, would they still feel they were in danger?

Or did they feel that 4,000 rpm at 35mph should never occur, therefore they felt the car was not able to accelerate and was gonna burn itself up, so they hurried to pull over or started pushing buttons. But had they just kept driving instead of pulling over perceiving an emergency, it might have simply accelerated normally...

Angry bees can be wierd when they occur for the first time. I can see them scaring some people into perceiving danger. Danger that might not even exist.

I admit I don’t know. And I haven’t read or found all the numerous complaints here people refer to, to know the circumstances. So unless I experience it myself someday I can do nothing more than speculate.
