Fiat getting new 500e on dedicated platform!

This is some pretty awesome news. Fiat, which until now has only had only produced the 500e as a "compliance car" on the same platform as its gas-powered version, is going all-in on a new 500e that will have a dedicated platform engineered to be electric from the get-go.

Can't wait to see how closely it will resemble the gas-powered version, which I imagine will still be around for a while.

Also exciting is the idea that this new electric platform will underpin other models, maybe even something outside the Fiat brand in the FCA Group.
