So, perhaps a useful data point, maybe not.

This evening I decided to top off the charge for tomorrow's commute. I plugged the mini into my EVSE and all is well (car is unlocked). As I walked away I decided to open the hood (or is that boot) and check fluids (windshield washer :)). Closed the hood and walked back into the house. An hour later I checked status and found it was not charging. I unplugged and plugged back in a couple times with no dice. I locked the door via the door button and when I reconnected the charge cable, it started charging.

Perhaps opening the hood while charging created a state where the car is not going to accept a charge and locking the car kicks it out of that state?

I'll have a play. Non of the incidents coincided with opening the bonnet, however.

But the story continues... about five minutes later I open the app to check status and it indicates not charging. Walk back out, disconnect the charger, open close doors, hoods, lock/unlock doors. Plug charger back in and it appears to charge. I check the instrument cluster and its yellow as usual with an estimated complete time, after 30 seconds more or less, it indicating recalculating, then after a minute it turned red. I'm now not getting charging indications at the EVSE. Hmmph..... disconnected, reset the EVSE, tried again. This time it proceeded on to charging and its still charging 15 minutes later. ..... I guess one has to be careful not to confuse the computer ;)

I spent 15 minutes playing with the bonnet, charge and doors. I failed to get it to misbehave.
Do you have another EVSE you could test with?
I've reached the point where I'm charging via my J1772 extension and keeping the Tesla EVSE in the house. That way I can swap EVSEs without touching the car.
