When looking at Plugshare, it looks to me that one can cross Canada using Tesla Superchargers. Are all Petro Canada chargers free? I'm not seeing that on Plugshare.
Yeah, but it is the speed to 80% that matters most, 18 min for the Ioniq 5. And 5 min of charge will give you 100 kms. Can any other EV match that?
But Tesla Superchargers are not free. Yes, all Petro Canada chargers are free with an RBC credit card (currently until Apr 22, 2022). I have been making good use of that one, too, in addition to the many other free chargers in BC.
Yet to see a charge curve for Lucid Air, but 300 miles in 20 minutes proportions out to 75 miles (120 km) in 5 minutes
So is this a credit or debit card rebate, like the one shown on the web site. https://www.petro-canada.ca/en/personal/discover-petro-points/rbc
No, that is another promo. This one is completely free, not a rebate. https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/royal-bank-canada-petro-canada-free-charging-for-1-year-canada.10978/
OK, it's a credit card that credits the charge back so you don't pay anything. I did look at the reliability on Plugshare. It seems like a few Petro-Canada chargers are under repair at any one time. That's something to think about when crossing the middle of Canada.
Still pretty new, working out the bugs, I guess. Our local ones had some issues initially, but seem to be working fine now. We have one close by (10 min drive, but on the way to and from other shopping), so charge there most of the time now, instead of using a free level 2 as before, which was a 15 min walk from home. And our charges at the PC are usually only about 20 min, as it starts to slow down at 70%. Only issue is the Starbucks there, as my wife can't avoid the temptation... Have yet to ever wait for one, as not used heavily. I think most people don't know you can charge for free.
Most of my driving is local, but I've taken the car on a a couple of longish highway trips -- 300 mi. or so -- and efficiency dropped only slightly. I am not speed demon, which helps.
