I created a thread on window position when I first got my SE, complete with photos. 2.5 years later they still stop before going completely into the door, but a second button push gets them all the way inside the door. I guess they did just need a break-in period. I'm not sure if the 2022 LCI 2 behaves the same way, and who knows if the same electronics are being used these days.
I checked earlier this afternoon. My driver’s side window lands flush, but the second click does activate the motor for a split second with a fairly loud thud; I rarely open my windows basically only in October so far, so I never noticed. I almost never open the other one, so I checked, and sure enough, it stopped about ⅛” short at the front, but the second push activated the motor, then it bounced right back to being slightly exposed. I noticed the same behavior going up as well, on both sides, so I tried using the up double-push on the side with the gap and it… did nothing.
Tech is adjusting as close as he can without putting the window out of spec, meanwhile the SA just went around the lot to a bunch of freshly-PDId Hardtops and noted that all of them have variances between the left and right sides, all a bit different.
Unpopular opinion, but I really dislike frameless windows. Traditional windows are more robust, less complicated, and quieter. I wish they’d put that cost towards other parts of the car. My two cars are different too. The older SE is more solid, while the windows in the new one rattle. Also have noticed that the driver window (again new one) doesn’t go as far up and there is a little more wind noise from that side.
Agree, but the frames on the F55 four (five) door are stupid thick. The side windows are like portholes compared to those on the 56.
My driver side window no longer jiggles, and the gap is much narrower, though not as narrow as on the other side, but I thought I noticed more wind noise on the freeway at 65 or 70 miles an hour. Of course while in motion, it’s impossible to do a window reset. I’ll get to it later tonight I guess.
