Gorgeous, congratulations! You are gonna have so much fun with it! I am picking up mine later this week - can't wait!

By the way, did you guys add any additional maintenance? What are your opinions on it? Normally I wouldn't with an ICE. But I am thinking maybe I should with an electric car.

I updated my CO order with that info because that is what Loveland Mini put on mine.

There is no maintenance, except washer fluid and wiper blades. Oh, and tires and brake pads. But the brake pads take at least twice as long to wear out.

I've not driven this much, and the two cars drive extremely differently.

The RSX I had was a 6-speed Type-S. It's a 204 HP rocket and the control via manual transmission is very satisfying. The handling is good.

The SE, as I've not driven it much so far, handles much better, and it's acceleration is unreal. The sensation of going 0-60 in a manual transmission car is satisfying because of the sense of control you have over it, but man does the SE accelerate like a beast.

    So, I finally have it!

Yesterday morning, the ASK MINI folks said the car was at the dealer but my dealer said it wasn't. They did some poking around and couldn't understand why the car was transferred to their inventory before they had it. But at 2:15pm, the dealer texted that he had it! Despite that fact the the day before, he said they take 3-4 days at the dealer to get it ready, he told me it was their goal to get it to me today.

By mid-day today, he committed to meeting that goal.

We drove up to the dealer, and as soon as we got on the lot, I started looking for it. It was right in front! The picture I posted upon arrival was what we saw.

We sat down to start the paperwork, and quickly checked my phone. The photo I had seen elsewhere with the Black Jack Mirror Caps delivered instead of Night Jack Mirror Caps was in my head, and with my phone I realized that I had Black Jack, not Night Jack Caps. After a bit of the paperwork, I asked my salesguy about it. He checked the build, and it turned out I had ordered the Black Jack caps. He said he'd see if they had Night Jack Caps there.

Finance guy. Never buy the add ons. A very high-tech document table with "pens". Odd. But, never buy the add ons. We paid our money.

Salesguy brought out the Night Jack caps so I could look at them. My wife and I agreed that they would be more subtle and so we bought them. A $250 mistake. And, we get to bring the car back at some point so they can drill the hole in the driver's side one so that the Mini Projector will work. (@GVilleGuy, the ones that came from the factory had the hole drilled into it, but the ones from the dealer did not. So I won't know if the Mini Project will work until they drill that hole).

Spent some time with the salesguy on a bit of a walk through. My wife took off for dinner, and I took off in the Mini for the drive home.

MAN that thing picks up fast! Once I got on the freeway it just bolts into a speed I could not imagine getting to so fast! "Holy **** this is fast" is what I said under my breath!

Had some issues with Bluetooth continuously playing music. Might need to reset my iPhone, or figure out how to get it to take the USB connection instead of Bluetooth.

I took the car through the city and up to the top of the hills and took some shots. I'll add some in the next post.

I plugged it into my Juicebox when I got home. The Mini was already set for maximum charge rate and my Juicebox delivered at 31a, 7.6 KWh in an hour and 8 minutes. It was at 99% when I unplugged it so I can get my wife to see how easy it is to charge when she gets home.

I'm so, so wishing I didn't have to drive 400 miles tomorrow. I'm taking the ICE so I can make it fastest.

@Jamie - "put on mine" What does that mean? Have you received some documentation? I have not received anything other than oral and a copy of "Order Entry Comfort Dealer Enquiry". Are you working with Matt?

Congrats on picking it up! It feels a lot faster than most reviewers give it credit for. Enjoy!

@bldxyz - very happy for you! The car looks great. Take the owners manual with you on your trip. :) Good to know about those mirror caps and drilling the hole. I had read on the Mini accessories site a few months back that they don't have the projector hole pre-drilled.

I had some trouble configuring my iPhone initially. It initially set the phone up as a bluetooth connection (and I may have taken a wrong option - I'm not sure), and I could not get the CarPlay option to show up in the main display. Later I went back into the phone settings menu and saw that there was an additional option showing under my phone to select EITHER CarPlay or Bluetooth as your connection method. I selected CarPlay and it immediately started working. No USB connection needed. So far CarPlay has been flawless. A short press of the voice button on the steering wheel assumes you want to give a Mini system command, and a long press of the button activates CarPlay Siri.

Less of a reason to do it on an electric vs ICE really. Their plans are meant for ICE anyway and way too costly.

    @bldxyz your car looks fantastic!

  16. I’ve heard the standard discount one can expect from the dealer is $500. Were you able to do better than that? I ask because I’m in Southern California, in between two competing dealers, and I’m wondering if I can use that to my advantage.

We picked her up yesterday. The first 22 sold at our dealer. What a car. So much character. IMG_3474.JPG IMG_3475.JPG

Congrats! So glad we also picked the black roof with BRG.

@Happy... we ended up with 5X that off list on a Signature with August delivery. Four dealers in the mix, 3 competing on price, one on delivery time. (If our base 22M9 looks anywhere near as great as GVille's Iconic and bmartinez's Plus, the wait will be worth it.) Since Illinois punishes EV buyers rather than reward them, the dealers here have to try to meet the CO $2500 and CA $2000 rebates. (Our EV plates are $100 more per year than an ICE since the state is trying to recoup some of their lost fuel tax revenue.) In the end, buyers in CA, CO and IL are probably paying about the same out of pocket for our MINIs. An awesome deal with the federal rebate taken into consideration! My nephew could not get anything off list in CO when the rebate was $4000 in 2020, don't know if they started discounting in 2021 since the rebate dropped.

  20. That’s great info. Makes a lot of sense why dealer incentives might be less in my area. Thanks so much, Chicago.

LOL! Your dealer surprisingly gets your SE to you before the trip you planned and now you're taking the ICE-way. I guess it makes sense if fastest, rather than funnest, is the goal for your 400-mile trip.

I know. Sometime after I realized it wasn't going to be here in early April, or even before the weekend before, I decided there was some risk of unknown. The purpose of my trip is to visit my mother (first time since early in COVID).

The main reason I was eager to get the car was to not leave the rest of my family with NO car while I am away. That's peace of mind as a family man.

Any chance you can post a screen snapshot (or two) of the menus that got to that choice? I thought we set them up for CarPlay, but I may be mistaken.

It is just odd to me, since I had installed an updated head unit in my Acura RSX that had Carplay. It seamlessly handled the input cable method, rather than defaulting to wifi.

I like the idea of the wireless charger, even that it is in the armrest and thus out of the way. I would prefer it if it had a hardwire connection there, too. And, in practice, I bet a lot of people leave their phones in the headrest by mistake.
