Debating CarPlay vs Android Auto. Looking for input.

The debate is with myself at the moment
Should I get a cheepo Android phone just to run Android Auto?
The main reason would be to get more out of ABRP, such as live updating from EvNotify.
I'm wondering what else I might gain over CarPlay.
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
