Even with Tesla having to ramp production of the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi both will be global best sellers out of the gate. Cybertruck already is just based on pre-orders. It will very soon have more pre-orders than Ford produces F150s in a year. The 2021 F150 from what we have seen even the electric version is basically an obsolete model. What GM is offering is a niche vehicle. The pick up makers are going to be blackberry-ed, its already started with their sales drops under corona. Could you sell a truck from the 1950s against a 2020 Ford- same reason you can't sell the obsolete before it even launched 2021 Ford F150 with any reasonable expectation of volume. Tesla sand bagged the Semi stats but the demonstrators have been out there and of course we know it was led by the person who produced the most popular class 8 diesel in the world. As soon as the Tesla Semi launches two things will happen. 1. Orders of new diesels will be suspended or cancelled and 2. orders for the Semi will start to back up like the Cybertruck. Not having the semi for a logistics business will mean not being able to compete or stay in business. Then there is China. China will quickly drive the Cyber truck to the number 1 pick up truck sales world wide. Ford can't sell its F150s in China- they don't want them and that certainly won't change now not even with an electric Ford Pick up- mark my words they will be denied that market and their 25% historical tariffs protecting Ford's domestic pick up business to help defeat carb through loss leading to heavier vehicles won't be forgotten- the ICE version , hybrid version won't be allowed in and the electric version will be rejected. Even if allowed in they will not sell. But they love the Cybertruck because they understand its a new kind of vehicle far more capable than anything that came before. And I'd say the design is Chinese in aesthetic, if not its not far off. New Chinese products are equated with the future and things to come and the Cybertruck is the future. There is no competition. The competitors are neanderthals or crude old Soviet in style, not even Klingon by comparison. Nicola is crude Neanderthal by comparison- deadly obvious in any picture that compares the two rigs side by side. Look at the clunky old tech rims on the Nikola and look at the cludgey gloopy exterior styling in comparison. And look at obstructing stuff just glued on the pillars in the interior. For comparison the Tesla is symmetrical with a McLaren F1 seat forward design and truly panoramic view. The Nikola is slow as a Toyota Mirai trying to race a Performance Model 3 by comparison- that matters for buyers and it matters for safety and it matters for driver comfort.
