  1. My Build Date as per VIN plate on door jamb is Oct 02/19.

I took delivery Nov 15/19. I'm guessing the dealer had it for a week?
I'm guessing it came straight to Vancouver, but unless they brought it by air it's a pretty fast ship.

So... how is the Build Date established? I would have thought when it left the factory? or?

    Just curious.

Well, it depends on where the factory it was built in is located.

If it is anything like most "foreign" cars there are probably a few North American factories where these are actually being built. A lot of foreign car manufacturers have found this cheaper than shipping the vehicles overseas since they don't have the contracts with unions that the "domestic" (at least in the U.S.) car manufacturers do. Ironically, as a result, most traditionally ”domestic" cars are built in other countries as a result, as the cheaper labor and less stringent rules make it cheaper for them to ship the cars over.

I know Toyota has a few factories in North America, not sure about Hyundai.

I believe nearly all Kona Electrics (Konas Electric?) outside China have been assembled in Ulsan, South Korea. Nošovice, Czechia, started producing them this year, but I think that's just for Europe.

  5. VIN says Ulsan, South Korea.
