I see a lot of plug-in cigarette lighter voltage meters for sale, which give a digital readout of the 12V battery voltage and often have 1 or 2 USB ports too. I’m interested in people’s experience with these devices. Has anyone out there with an electronics background had a look at one? Are these safe to keep plugged in (one buyer review shows a blown capacitor)? Do they draw a phantom current while the car is off? Are they accurate? Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I use them in both of my cars. They work well, and good to know the SOC of your battery, and when it is charging.
I have one, and it reports the same voltage as OBD2. I don’t believe it can draw any power when the car is off. Mine shows cabin temperature too.
