GM is closing Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly in Detroit where the Volt is assembled. Is this the end of the line for the first PHEV? It sure looks like it. We have sent an email to GM for clarification and will post what we learn. *** Confirmed. Production ends March 2019.
In their article on CNN, they specifically said that the Volt, and several other sedans, will no longer be made, so yes - sure sounds like this is the end of the line for the Volt.
I am really sorry to hear of all the jobs lost for folks and their families. I'm also really sad to see a great PHEV option eliminated. I want to see more options for electric and plugin electric, not fewer. Anyway, its a sad day. -Dan
