I've have the Carly dongle and subscription for BMW for a while--it's a pretty useful tool for simple OBD stuff and for setting some BMW options. I tried it on the SE and it is able to read a few settings and seems to say that I can adjust them. Not sure that's the case. For example, one setting is how far down the passenger mirror turns with the car in reverse. Carly claims to be able to change the setting. The SE mirror goes way too far down for my tastes (or height), but it's not clear to me that Carly is affecting it after I set the down movement to be less aggressive. Anyone have any luck with Carly on their SE, or more broadly with other tools?
Bimmercode + Bimmerlink are better options because they are non-subscription based with unlimited BMW/MINI vehicles (and current BMW-Toyota Supra). You can also OBD2 to ethernet with E-sys for free but it's not as handy with a laptop.
