I didnt know this and could not find anything in the handbook but if you start, i.e. the ignition, while fast charging or maybe other charging you will get an error that requires a visit to the dealer to fix.
UPDATE: A few days ago I visited the same charging station doing what I was supposed to do, stay away from the car, let the charger work and drive off. Sadly I got the same resulted. If not a total brick, not far from it and a required trip to the dealer to reset, to many hours of waiting at the dealer. I dont know if this particular station is the culprit or if they all behave badly but I am not going back.
I've never read of anything like this happening. Did the service department explain just what the problem was?
not really except to say that I should avoid that particular charging station. If I can find another quick charge I will try that but they are few and far between down here

When this happens, lock and unlock the car a few times with your car keys. - In some cases the CHAdeMO plug cannot be disconnected because the car keeps the plug locked. Ensure that you have closed all doors, then lock and subsequently unlock the car to make it unlock the plug as well.
The one thing i noticed is, you cannot run the car and cool it down by keeping it plugged in, the VOLT allows you to do that, i was surprised that the Outlander does not!
So the Outlander PHEV won't let you pre-condition the car while plugged in or it just won't let you charge while preconditioning?
I am able to have the climate control functioning while plug in using the app. There is a warning to NOT have people or pets inside the car... Tai
With climate control running and plugged in, will it draw current from the EVSE to maintain/charge the battery?
As i just went out the car, plugged into our home 220volt charger. The car will start, the A/C UNIT WILL run and NOT COOL THE CAR DOWN, just hot air. The service engine soon light comes on. I have the APP, i will try the APP with the car plugged in and report. The app does give you warnings about no pets or people are to be in the car while using the climate aspect of the app.
In the panel, there is climate control timer. You need to set the timer. And yes, it uses the energy from evse. Keep in mind, the AC consumes 4kW. Even you have level 2 Evse, the maximum power our PHEV could take in is around 3.5kW. So the AC will take energy from batt. If you are using the OEM evse (~1.4kW), then batteries are doing most of work to cold the car. If you have the APP installed it is a lot easier to precondition the car... Update: The APP will run the A/C whether it is plugged in or not plugged in. If plugged in, the APP shows the car charging the battery as the A/C is running.
