We constantly saw all that shooting brake stuff. Most people find that fugly. Its just weird.
Now Cadilac has done with the Lyric what Honda did with the Clarity and what Jaguar did with the iPace by giving by putting "pace" in the name and making it look a bit like the Pacer in the back. People don't want that. People don't want station wagons- some might but what message is that sending? If they want a younger crowd, maybe they don't, can't be that.

Interesting to see the price of the Buick Velite 7 in China If it is $28K or so GM may still survive but it needs to bring that here. still can't quite see the back on it. They need to work on the rims too.

Absolutely. Wood paneling must be next. Its hobbleware.

That design will fail. Its just obvious to the point of fact. Its rear end has been sabotaged and its so, so obvious and it looks very intentional. That would never survive a focus group. Look at the way they sloped the roof backward too another huge obvious error that always just looks wrong! This is more compliance stuff or more lying to the GM shareholders. Its such nonsense. This goes beyond Lutz saying GM whittled its market-share down by showing prototypes and then having bean counters destroy them and then whining about not being able to get people into its showroom. Lutz was right you can't sell fugly. It would be like trying to sell bad hair cuts. Imagine all the hair standing up on the back of the head from a hair cut when that was never the intention of the person receiving the hair cut. This must have been part of why the debut was delayed. You can't do dowdy in design people don't want to drive things that make them stick out in embarrassing ways.

GM is run by people who seem to have no perspective. They think its all political and there will always been infinite excuses made for their fossil fuel orientation. That is so foolish. And there will be infinite space and understanding for the lies and lying. No one is going to force the public to buy GM products. GM is Sears. If it was going to survive it should rename itself and re-purpose itself to something like Electric Propulsion instead General (WWII) Motors (ICE.) And they hide behind jobs which they don't care about because they do stock buy backs while laying off. And they say its going to be decades before ICE is gone and oppose CAFE! And when GM closed a factory it acted like Tesla was obligated to buy its refuse. Seems the question about GM management despite its rhetoric is has it become so malevolently stupid that its evil? The people that it needs to buy its products can't remember its past and don't relate to its glory days.

If that car had a generic back end and reasonable range and reasonable price and reasonable availability and reasonable charge price and was made in the US despite the baggage of the Cadillac brand (which has no good will at this point and no status and prestige left) it would sell in ordinary volume even as a dumb car. But GM still keeps stringing along lies. Remember when GM 4 years ago said it had a Bolt driving completely autonomously through San Franciso- almost assuredly it has nothing at this point- strongly suspect Cruz was a less than nothing venture look at how many times its had its shill group Navigant just put out utter lies. GM needs a new board and new management and needs to rename the company. It needs to buy dealerships and turn them into company owned service centers and get rid of its dealership model otherwise. It also needs to stop wasting money on advertising. And it needs to stop paying fair weather shills like Jonas to say unrealistic things about it, no more paying for the dropping of the strategic lie from strategic shills. The main thing that is broken about GM is that its not an automaker is just another rent seeking extraction scam. It doesn't actually have to have 'owners' but in GMs case its an excuse to extract money for these rent seekers. An entity that wasn't owned by anyone and ran at as close as possible to cost could do better than GM. Think of where it would be if over the last century it hadn't wasted most of its income on these non contributing parasites paying rents to them.

Iococca had Chrysler running right, really right for a while but then disastrously and wrongly it got sold to Daimler. Why? Cause Iococca was getting old? Lutz was never allowed the top spot at GM, if he and been maybe GM wouldn't have been able destroy itself with perpetual wonky styling. But doesn't listen, can't learn because that would impeded the efficiency of it as an extraction mechanism and its blind useless profit focus. This is the company that fought seat belts and air bags and put lead in the gas the company that scrapped electrics in the 90s and surely one of them that undid early electric transport systems like trolleys.
