Additional solar panels

    When installed back in December 2017 the panels I chose produced more power than the install company calculated. The result was the inverter was undersized so was clipping the power and had to be replaced. They made me an offer to sell me the new inverter at their cost and zero cost to install. At the same time I had them add two more panels.

    I was able to quickly sell the old inverter on eBay.

  3. Sorry, I had to answer a few questions for my solar installer and my session timed out.

    We’re replacing 9 year old panels with new and installing new components. The battery bank will remain unchanged. Adding new panels and keeping the old ones didn’t make sense, as the new panels would only feed into the grid and wouldn’t charge the batteries. New codes, incompatibility issues, yada yada.

    So, yes. New panels can be added. But it can be complicated depending on the age of the original panels and compatibility of other components.
