2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to get nice performance bump

Discussion in 'Outlander PHEV' started by Domenick, Feb 21, 2018.

  1. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is coming to the Geneva Motor Show in the shadow of the flashier e-EVOLUTION Concept, though it's pointed out early in the press release that this plug-in is the brand's flagship.

They've chosen this venue to announce its improvements, notably, it's getting a 15% bigger battery and will see output of the electric motors boosted. It also changes engines - from the current 2.0 L Otto cycle to a 2.4 liter Atkinson cycle lump (suspect is from Toyota, but not confirmed).

If they can keep the price competitive, they could do very well with this, but by publicizing it this early, they may have people waiting for this next beast, instead of the tamer kitty they could buy right now.

  2. I'm not really taken by the exterior in photos, but the interior look like a decent place to be.

the 2019 Europe model is not due to the USA till 2020, correct?? that is what we have read. Plus that interior is pretty similar to our 2018, the tuft leather is different and the lower console is "lifted" up more..but looks almost the same

Interesting that they mention the clunky infotainment, we have no issues with it at all, it is actual faster and better than our 2017 GM Volt's system.
Wonder if they updated some of these items for the '18 USA version before they released it here ie: info system?
Android auto is fantastic and is not slow or clunky
My only real issue with the system is the volume knob is kinda small..

  5. Sadly, I haven't had a chance to drive any version of the Outlander PHEV yet. Hopefully someone with some 1st-hand knowledge will speak up.

When you test it, please measure the charge rate at an L2. I'm seeing a maximum of 16 A on the public L2 I manage.

  8. I just saw my first one, a 2018, on Saturday. I thought the interior in that looked pretty sweet. Even in the back seats!
