So, Turbo tax doesn't have the fed tax credit form 8936 for 2018 yet.
I want to file this asap so what are the other options........anyone filed already?

  3. Noticed this too yesterday. I doubt the people at the IRS who work on the form are "essential personnel", so we may be waiting a while...

If the rest of the forms you need are ready, you can file now and file an amended return later. But there is no way to claim the tax credit until the form to do so has been made available.

I looked to see if you could fake it by entering the credit due on the appropriate line on 2018 Form 1040 (line 54 for 2017) and amend later to back it up, and there has been a major rework.
Form 1040 has been redesigned for 2018. The new design uses a “building block” approach. Form 1040, which many taxpayers can file by itself, is supplemented with new Schedules 1 through 6. These additional schedules will be used as needed to complete more complex tax returns.
The amount from 8936 will (most likely according to the draft instructions) land on Schedule 3 (line 54c) for Non-Refundable credits, which then get entered on line 12b of the 1040.
    Schedule 3 Instructions
    Line 54 Other Credits
Enter the total of the following credits on line 54 and check the appropriate box(es). Check all boxes that apply.
If box c is checked, also enter the applicable form number.

Turbotax seems to support this as of last night.

Just updated my TT and 8936 still shows "Do Not File".
Looked at the 1/28 update details and 8936 is showing 2/7 for both print and e-file

Oh sorry, forgot to mention that. It supports it now in that it at least lets you fill out the info, and reflects it in your due/refund, but then it won't let you file until the 7th.
