Hello my trunk window glass is broken. Any idea what is the replacement part? I tried searching through web, honda website but couldn’t figure it out. thanks Dudh
The part number is 73711-TRT-A01 I use Majestic Honda Parts for lookups because they provide parts diagrams and good prices. https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
are you planning on changing this yourself? I'm not sure how easy it is to change. It might be glued in place. Do we have any instructions from any service manual that shows how to do this operation?
Well, first I wanted to find the part. If I can find it than will figure out if I should do it by myself or have a mechanic do it for me.
This is why I hate that little window. It pretty much eliminates one little advantage that sedans have over hatchbacks (trunk security).
I wonder how many people would even realize it's a window. At the NDEW event that I was at someone seemed to not quite believe me that it was a window until I opened the trunk so they could look up and see light coming through it.
other electric/hybrid cars have a window there. it will become more and more common I think, and more and more known. they all have high trunks for various reasons such as aerodynamics, battery placement etc. for example the prius models have had a window there for a very long time, the hyundai ioniq also has a window there.
Right but they are all hatchbacks. Then again the Clarity sort of looks like a hatchback. So not impossible that someone will take a guess and try and smash it but unlikely I hope.
Sounds like an opportunity for someone to fabricate a metal or fiberglass piece to replace the glass. When my Clarity was delivered, it still had a piece of some sort of tape across the inside trunk peephole. I've never removed it, so I wouldn't miss the glass on the trunk line...I'm not looking through it anyway. Or just spray some "frosted glass" finish on the inside to mask the trunk contents.
Have you ever heard the story about a guy in New York City who had the misfortune of having his car's window broken and his stereo stolen multiple times? Eventually he realized he was never going to be able to keep a stereo in his car. So he left the empty hole in his dashboard and put a sign in his car's window, "NO STEREO!" Sadly, he returned to his car one day to find his window broken again. Inside, the thief had left a sign, "JUST CHECKING." Frosting the glass on the Clarity's trunk lid will likely make it an even more attractive target for glass-breaking thieves who will be just checking.
All sounds about right. $180 piece of glass, $50 adhesive/installation kit, couple hours of labor, sales tax... Pay the bill and get er done. This is not a DIY job. Any glass company can do it and they’ll all get the glass from Honda.
So final total $250 - Original OEM part (no after market part available) $100 - labor $20 - cleaning fees ——————- - $370 CASH
Other than rims, tires and wiper blade inserts, is there even one aftermarket replacement part available for the Clarity PHEV?
