Yes! Being next to the PA border, I was trying to get pricing from a PA dealer since they cap their doc fees by law. But even for those PA zip codes, the assigned dealer was one in NJ and their price was about 32K.
I am also on PA/NJ Border. Clinton Honda's Costco Price was 32,424.00 plus TTL and $454 Doc Fee... I just emaield them to make sure it was a quote for a base model, not a touring... On my own, I got a quote from Princeton Honda of 30,424 before TTL and Fees. Brought OTD to around 33,500. PA Dealer is $31,717, Out the Door $34,476.24 I just reached out to Hamilton Honda....finger's crossed!
I have been dealing with multiple dealerships in the DFW area in the past few weeks. Apparently here in Texas, we are no way getting any nice offers comparing to the fellows in the east or west coast. I am mainly shopping for the base trim, most dealer's offer is MSRP-$400 to -$2000. But they all add in these snake oil extra packages, which adds additional $400~$1800. All dealers claim that we do not get the Honda financing $1500 rebate here in Texas. Essentially we can only buy the car at MSRP, which is around $33500-$34000 before TTL and Tax for the base trim. I did find one dealers offers $33500 OTD, which puts the car around $31000 before TTL and Tax, but apparently that car was hail damaged and the repair will show up in Carfax report (this information was provided by other dealers when I brought in the $33500 OTD offer). I have tried to get dealer information from previous fellows from DFW area who got nice deals in this list, but I haven't heard any response. Although I do like the Clarity the most, but it won't justify itself if I have to pay $3000+ more than fellows in New Jersey or Southern California. I think I will have to move away from the Clarity for my next new car.
If you have a Costco membership, use Princeton's zip code. Price did go up to about 29.9K though. Note that Costco says the price includes a 1500 discount that can't be used with special financing. They still let me do that anyway after I pressed them. I can put you in contact with my sales rep - send me PM.
2018 Honda Clarity Touring...$35,500...$36,878 OTD. Mud flaps, cargo tray, wheel locks. Purchased July 30, 2018.
Try calling Hugo in sales at the Honda dealer in San Marcos. They sell Clarity's at a decent discount and don't load up their cars with overpriced pin striping and other overpriced "dealer-installed options." And, if you buy a Clarity pretty soon, you probably will still be able to snag the available $2500 rebate from TCEQ, as long as you buy it from a TX dealer and agree to register & license it in TX for one year. Not a bad deal at all, especially on top of the $7500 federal income tax credit applicable to a Clarity purchase.
Ended up with a Base at $31,994 + TTL and all weather floor mats. OTD $34,021. Ended up with Roberts Honda in Downingtown, PA. Got $2500 for my trade...right in the middle on my trade according to KBB for a 2011 Sonata SE tubro with 182,000 miles. Got a better price in NJ, buy a few hundred, but didn't like dealing with them at all... Fees are outrageous and you "HAD" to pay hundreds for a stupid UV sticker thing that i didnt even want... I actually made a counter offer....and they just said no...and came back with their regular offer...walked out. This location is near where my wife works, so we will cash in on the loaners, oil changes, etc. with ease. Thanks to everyone who is posting in this forum!
Appreciate if anybody in SoCal Orange County would mind share your Honda Dealer contact? I am interested in getting a Base Clarity as well but there are so many dealers out there with not so good reputation based on Yelp reviews... Thanks.
I got my car from Freeway Honda off the 55 and 5 area. Got a great deal and they seem to know what they are doing. Car Plugs were installed and have a full charge using their charger. My Touring was under $34,000 with an OTD price below $37,000. Depends on how much dealing you can deal with. When you show up, ask for Gus. He took good care of me and seemed to know more about the Clarity then some of the other guys I worked with. 714.878.3529
Thank you all for your feedback, appreciated it... looking forward to becoming a proud Clarity owner too
I am getting an OTD cost of slightly less than $37700.. and $37,600.. This is Bay Area.. Wondering if I should just go ahead or try to bargain a bit more.. I have not yet bargained for dealer add ons..
We're in same area and about to negotiate. Casting a wide regional net via Truecar (through insurance co), the lowest quotes I've seen for the standard model are "under 29,924" including destination from Planet Honda in Union and 31,698 from Davis in Burlington. Clinton Honda is the most convenient for us, but we're fine traveling 90 minutes or so for a better deal. Any cautionary tales for these dealerships? Thank you everyone for your posts about the Clarity and competing PHEVs--so helpful for our research.
Quick update: just spoke w Planet Honda and their base model went down to 28,184 incl destination. The only not included are documentation fee 499 and taxes/registration. They have 17 in stock, likely trying to get inventory down. They don't have our first color choice, but I'm not one to pay more for the look of a car. I'll post what happens. In meantime, as said, if anyone has issues with Planet Honda, Clinton, or Davis, please let us know. (or a better price in this NJ-PA area!)
Did you get a response from Clinton? Quote from Hamilton? As I just posted, Planet Honda in Union has best price so far, followed by Davis in Burlington.
