    Any idea how much mass the sunroof adds? I would be surprised if it was enough to make a big difference.

    The original SE (fog lights) has an EPA range of 110 miles, and the 2022 LCI model (aero slits) has an EPA range of 114 miles. So the slits seem to add 4 miles of range, since nothing else has changed with the car. Well, the nose itself is a bit different.

    2 mi/kWh is over 31 kWh/100 km. That’s like 58 miles of range from full to zero. Yeah nah.

    Today wasn’t great 17.2kwh/100 to Ottawa with the insane headwind

    but ffs the Electrify Canada dispensers are still broken 1 month later

    30+ miles of interstate today with cruise control set at 70 mph. Two people plus luggage, A/C on. Car reported 3.9 mi/kWh average. Then I got off onto a 45-55 mph state highway for about 10 miles, made a couple of max acceleration passes, then drove around town for another 5-10 miles. Ended up using 54% of the battery to travel 70 miles, equivalent to 130 miles of range.

    Today was the worst day owning and EV. Broken DCFCs (The Electrify Canada in Ottawa is still
    Broken despite being told it works and got free charges from them) ended up having to drive to another stall. Topped up to 50% and decided to stop on the way home. Dcfc on the way home added a 20 min delay because people left their cars sitting at 100% for 15 mins then decided to slowly leave.

    I've been using Tronity to monitor my SE's efficiency (and running costs) since purchase. Have made 565 trips, covering 10,000 miles in 8 months, at an average of 4.6 miles/kWh. This has been a mixture of motorways (~65mph), city (20mph) and suburban (~40mph) driving. The Tronity app/platform always reports greater efficiency for any given trip than the Mini does.

    I was well on my way to breaking 180 miles per "tank" (~6.2 mi/kWh) since my last charge, a milestone achieved largely by taking the state highway paralleling the interstate, thus not exceeding 50 mph. Alas, a dinner downtown led to taking interstate highways home, thus dropping my range to ~160 miles (~5.5 mi/kWh).

    I tried a super-long drive (almost 150 miles) on a single charge, and probably could have made it but got a bit of range anxiety and decided to spend about 30 minutes putting 10% SoC at a (free! private business!) L2 EVSE. I managed to go 115 miles (first three legs) and had about 25% SoC left, but since that was technically less than the final 30 miles I had left to travel I did charge even though according to the Mini Range Calculator I had 37 miles left. I think part of my desire to charge is because of all the warnings you get under 20 miles left. That and the fact there were absolutely no charging options the last 10+ miles of my trip.

    Here's a map roughly visualizing my routes, I went from A->B->A (80 miles), and A->D->A (65 miles), charging at D. Mostly freeway driving, 60-70 mph. Not bad for a "city car".

    Pretty sure I got my best tank today. My usual route from home down across the border into way upstate NY, mostly on back highways and rural routes. But this time, ideal conditions: 68-71°, no wind, and overcast, allowing me to cruise with windows up and HVAC on Auto but no AC. I also stuck steadfastly to speed limits everywhere except the 16 km (10 mi) of freeway in each direction, where I was steady at 10 km/h above in the slow lane (110 in a 100). I resisted all urges to mash the pedal.

    This for sure. I live in the flatlands of Illinois. I drove 20 miles with a tailwind, started with a full charge. Got to my destination with more miles left on the GOM than when I left home. Of course going back the other way was painful. We estimate range and how far we feel safe to go based on how windy it is that day.

    Right, but don’t even consider the GOM. Rather, divide miles driven into percentage used, and you’ll get a better idea of how many miles you should be able to average with the percentage of battery remaining. So let’s say you are headed on a drive into the wind, and after 20 miles you realize you’ve used 20% of your battery, well, you’ll know pretty much how far you can go if you’re continuing into the wind. In my anecdote above, under almost ideal conditions with no wind, I was averaging a tick over 1.5 miles per percentage point.

    We had a day trip out yesterday into the countryside, warm day here (25 degrees celsius), never exceeding 56mph and lots of country lanes - a nice pootling drive with the A/C off but both windows down and the sunroof open. Outbound leg we got 6.26 mi/kWh, return leg slightly less as we had the A/C on so 5.73mi/kWh. Either way, this reinforces one of the primary reasons I bought the SE - its brilliant efficiency, particularly in the warmer months.

    Although I am normally a pretty chill driver (except for corners and roundabouts), the last couple of days I have had to really hustle here and there. So, multiple full-blast accelerations away from stoplights (when first in line), 70+ mph on the interstate with 80-85 mph passes, etc., often with the A/C on and a 160 lbs passenger. The result?

    73 miles covered using 48% of the battery, for an estimated total range of 152 miles.

    Another 32 miles of hooning around, and estimated total range has dropped to only 148 miles.

    I need to drive my car this hard more often!

    If I drive like this I won’t get 100 miles. Are you on stock Goodyears? I wonder how much affect my Conti Extreme Contact DWS have on my range.

    After my previous escapades, yesterday I thought I would use my other car for a day and give the SE a rest. Nope, dead battery in the ICE, and no success getting it started using a Stanley 1200 booster. Okay, fine, I will drive my son's car...then decided to take the MINI after all.

    Oops! Partway on my journey I realize that I only had 23% of charge to start, not 28% as I thought. Now what? I can't really slow down or I will be late. Fine, I will just baby it on the way home... which I did, making it with only 2% remaining. Whew!*

    All told, from 100% to 14% to 23% (brief midday recharge) to 2% carried me 149 miles, or 133 miles total range. (Today I did the same round-trip but reverted to my normal driving style and got 5.9 mi/kWh, or the equivalent of 171.)

    *The various warnings weren't too distressing, as I was reasonably certain I could make it, but then I briefly turned off the car while waiting on a train, and forgot to have my foot on the brake when I restarted it. The car of course wouldn't shift, and I started to think that I had bricked it right in the middle of a somewhat busy road. Only after turning on the hazard lights and turning off the car did I try it again, and discovered my mistake.

    Moral of the story: it helps to really know your car.

    You shouldn't have to worry about turning the car off to save battery. If you're not moving you're not using any battery. Except for heating/cooling, which can be disabled with green+ mode. All of the other stuff runs off the 12 V battery and you're not going to drain that waiting for a train.
