Just got a call from the dealer... My MINI is at the dealership already! Can't pick it up this weekend , but he said he'd send a few photos. I will share when they arrive...
Congrats! Even if the dealer won't let you pick it up, can you at least sit in it this weekend? I had to visit the dealer the day my SE arrived (but I ordered before production began and my eagerness was exacerbated by the pandemic-extended 51-week wait).
Not really the dealer not 'letting' me pick it up. Need to get my financing sorted out and trying to decide whether to let the dealer do the window tint and paint protection. My sympathies for your 51-week torture... Glad it's finally home...
The dealer sent a few photos, but here's the only really decent one... Hoping to pick it up Tuesday or Wednesday...
SpeedNoodle and HappyKafka, are your cars still stuck in 'quality check' too? The ASK MINI guy today said this usually means they're waiting on some small part like a door switch. They are technically considered finished with production, he said. I might have to take up a new hobby if this drags on too long.
I just looked again - and yes, still in quality check. Thanks for sharing what you found out from ASK MINI. I'll share as soon as I see it move. I suspect they wouldn't want 'finished but not' cars hanging out too long taking space, but who knows. I'm sure there's some calculation that they knew how many parts they had for what and that it made sense to get them through the line then let them sit.
Yep. I’ve been in “Quality Check” for a week now. I asked my dealer about it, and he said that it means the car is practically finished being built and that its status could change to “produced/not shipped” at any moment. Incidentally, he also mentioned that they’re temporarily suspending the harman/kardon sound system due to supply issues at the factory. He thinks since I made it to the quality check that I’ll still get my stereo system. I suspect this might be an issue for some of you who are still in the production line.
By the time these mini's come in, there might be a 2023 with a bigger battery. Then we'll have to start the process all over again.
I checked the Build-Your-Own site, and indeed the sound system for Signature+ and Iconic is tagged with 'Limited Availability'.
Well, against all expectation, our car seems to have moved from "quality check" to "awaiting carrier assignment." So off to Southampton soon I guess.
That's good news! I'm still in quality check, but perhaps we'll end up on the same boat to PHMPOA. Fingers crossed.
Good news, my Mini has arrived at the dealership in Loveland CO. Sorry Jamie, yours is not there even thou they were on the same ship. Just talked to Ty. Need to hear back from salesman about picking ours up. Need those strips on first. Edited - Talked with salesman. Hoping to have it before Father's day. Surprise our daughter and granddaughters. Awaiting bonnet strips.
Nice! So only 5 days from California to Colorado. The ship my mini is on will stop in Mexico Thursday so maybe it will be in California next week!
As of this morning my car has moved from 'quality check' to 'awaiting carrier assignment' as well. Interested to see when it arrives if anything ended up being omitted/substituted.
At last! My MINI is “Awaiting Carrier Assignment.” Now I’m free to fret about other issues, like whether or not I got the harman kardon sound system.
Picked it up yesterday afternoon... HOORAY! Have only driven it about 20 miles so far but it's been FUN! For me, it was 66 days from order to pickup...YMMV. Seems like I may be one of the lucky ones, though, based on some of the comments. Good luck, everyone!!
Speednoodle and TempoHouse, my car was dispatched from the factory this afternoon. What about you guys?
At the port since yesterday, for us. Did get the car to almost connect to the app, as someone else did earlier in this thread, so it may be real.
