Arrived at the port today, yes. Now to get on a ship and wait. I did find this documentary recently on the topic of auto shipping - this is the first time I've ever ordered a new car and found it interesting (even if a bit overly dramatic). I watched that video while awaiting my SE last year and enjoyed it very much. Why do you say overly dramatic? That humongous bed of a giant dump-truck is dramatic just sitting there, and even more dramatic being a last-second, unknown-but-guaranteed-to-be-difficult-to-accommodate addition to the cargo for this journey. If they lied and the captain knew what was coming the whole time, I'll agree it was overly dramatic.
Ah, I agree that giant dump truck looked quite challenging -- along with trying to adjust for that slope when loading, creative problem solving for sure. I was thinking more of the narrator... I know these things should be engaging but even the prep for the kitchen inspection got the treatment. Not that there aren't consequences for failing it, but IMO not on the scale of the massive dump truck tetris puzzle. Still agree worth watching though, quite fascinating.
We need a live webcam wherever MINI parks cars awaiting their ship. Next vessel, as far as I can tell, that stops in both Southampton and Oxnard is the Tulane, arriving in port on June 19. But I can't imagine we will be lucky enough that our cars hitch a ride on it.
That was a tad dramatic but still cool! My car came over on the Höegh Traveller so it was neat to see a sister ship go through a similar map to what mine did.
Anyone see their MINI vessel make multiple port calls before heading to Oxnard? I thought my ship would almost be here now, but it had to stop in Cartagena, Columbia, Lazaro, Mexico and now San Diego.
Yes. 24 days total for me. Mine stopped in Cartagena and San Diego, maybe another place in Mexico. Have you looked at the overall times for Oxnard deliveries on the delivery sheet? Is yours far outside the norm? (1-888-ASK-MINI should give you an estimated date for Oxnard.)
An even more pressing need is to make all the information about the progress of a customer's MINI Cooper both timely and easily accessible. Who updates that poorly designed bar graph anyway? Do they work part-time? Why should we have to call MINI to get better information? The situation reminds me of Sigourney Weaver's role in the fabulous "Galaxy Quest" movie where her only job is to redundantly repeat the words the space ship's computer speaks.
Nice! Mine is the same (love the white roof and mirrors), except for I'll have different wheels. It seems from your pictures that you have the rear parking sensors. Did you get the driver assistance/parking assist package and front sensors too? Just trying to figure out if they are still omitting the sensors for the people who should have rear sensors only. I should be getting mine in about two weeks! Please post some pictures when you get your bonnet stripes. I probably won't get them because my wife doesn't really like the stripes, but maybe a good picture will convince her!
Sure, will post additional pictures. And I have to get them to put a rubber insert into the cover of the motor. Was showing friends the motor under the cover last night and then today when I showed my son-in-law, noticed one was missing, Did I lose it or did they miss putting one on? And yes, we did get the driver/parking assist package for extra $750. But dealer could not demonstrate it on Friday, so will see if they figured it out on Tuesday.
From my experience, I'd say you lost it. I remember carefully aligning the pegs and the grommets--until one time there was no feeling of engagement at one corner because the grommet was somehow missing. Every time you pull off the motor cover, rotate the rubber grommets in their holes to make sure they didn't pull partway out. I ordered spare grommets, but was delivered the wrong ones and it's taking me longer to get the wrong ones replaced than to get the wrong ones in the first place. I don't hear any rattling from the motor cover due to the missing grommet.
