Jacking instructions for tire rotation/changing?

Lifting the Kona to remove a wheel is a piece of cake. The pad I used is a piece of reinforced silicone rubber but is not needed. Most important is that the car's flange sits inside the jack's teeth.

Just rotated my tires 2 days ago. I didn't use any cushioning.. The jacking location is designed to sit directly on top of the jack. Instead of using jack stands, I used 2 2 ton jacks on the side I was working on. Only thing to slow me down was the lug not lock that my car came with on each of the wheels.

I'm back to confused. KiwiME, it looks like your jack is placed adjoining the pinch-weld?

Please have a look at my image and tell me where the jack is placed. Red or Green area.

I don't about anyone else but I use the pinch weld, the green zone in you picture.

Yes, the green area. OEM-supplied scissor jacks often have a slot to keep the flange edge captive on the saddle.
It may be slightly unintuitive but the vertical edge is way stiffer and stronger than a flat horizontal sheet metal surface. That's as long as it doesn't buckle, which it's strengthened to avoid.

Ouch re the tire. At least you were in a good place. Thank you re the clarify. That's what I was thinking, green being correct but the image with the jack looked like it was on the flat. Thanks again.

Yes, I have such a kit and keep it in the car. In this case surprisingly it didn't leak air the moment I pulled the screw out - that's a first for me. Hopefully it'll be OK.
