Kona EV with no heat pumps?

I had the fan on max and recirculate was off.. will try again whenever we have cooler weather again.. 73 F forecast for tomorrow..

We hit a cold spell here in CT last week (mid 20's) and my heat worked just fine (and in Eco mode). My car got nice and toasty warm. I will say that in Auto Climate Control mode, it directs all the heat to the floor so it takes a little longer to feel it than if it was blowing in your face. Of course, this can be changes by switching to manual mode.
 
Really wish the 2020 U.S model came with a heat pump. I hear it’s just coming with a battery warmer and a “winter” mode..which I guess is good

does the 2019 U.S Kona have a “winter” mode too? Or is it just the 2020 model that has it?

With some sub-30F weather here this weekend I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the cabin got to a comfortable temperature. Faster than an ICE vehicle that has to get the coolant up to temperature. Climate power consumption hit an initial peak of 5.3kW though, so that was a bit shocking. After warming up, it settles to about 1.0-1.3kW.

No, the 2019 U.S. model doesn't have a battery warmer and hence no winter mode. This is coming in 2020:

- System helps prevent excessively long battery-charging intervals in cold temperatures
- In Winter Mode, the battery warmer can minimize battery-power losses due to low winter temperatures
 
I pretty much only drive in Eco mode (Limited model) and the heat is fine with factory settings. Other's mileage may vary, of course. Personally, I wish Hyundai would have given us buyers in the states a battery warmer rather than a cabin heat pump. Too bad we go neither, but that's just me. Car's fine regardless :-)

I changed the settings on mine so it would blow air on my hands instead of my feet. Then turned up the fan, and it was quite warm. The meter in the screen showed 5kW, but as the car warmed up, that dropped.

Next time I am un a thrift store, I will look for a cheap digital thermometer.
