Weathertech trunk mat now available

I have the tuxmat in the trunk. It has a fairly thick lip at the top that is easy to grab and lift up to get into the cubby. I rarely use the cubby for anything so I’ve only dealt with it a few times. IMO it’s pretty easy to lift up. Overall I love the tuxmats. They fit great all around and are very easy to clean.

Does it cover the full trunk?
(Weathertech also has a bumper guard available that attaches to the trunk liner.)

But I'm going between looking at tuxmat vs weathertech, tuxmat looks like it might be slightly less costly.

Also, any ideas for a cover for the carpet on the back of the seats (folded down)?
Thinking about whether I will try to stuff a 29" mountain bike inside the car with front wheel off vs get a hitch installed....

I guess I'm El Cheapo, for the cargo area of any car that I have owned I just go down to Walmart and buy a couple of twin flat sheets in approximately the same color as the carpet and keep them folded up neatly in a corner of the trunk to be used as needed. If it's just for scuff protection I just use one of them, if loading things that are wet like bags of mulch I put down both. A little water might seep through to the carpet but no dirt. If I think things might get really messy I'll lay out a piece of plastic drop cloth. One nice thing is you can easily drape the edge of the sheet over the bumper while loading to help protect it from scratches, then before closing the trunk fold it over the back part of the cargo.

I do have Tuxmats in the cabin though.

This sounds nice but for the bike it would be potentially dirt and/or some grease transfer from the chain. A sheet just doesn't seem sufficient.

Hard for me to decide for tuxmats ~$200 vs OEM ~$110 vs weathertech ~$180 for the interior... but i guess I'm not in a super hurry. Only had a couple spots in the prior 10yr old car where I just used the OEM carpet mats. But, with the clarity at the price I purchased it -- deciding to sell or trade in in a year if a different EV is at a steal is not an impossible scenario to envision this time. If I were in CA I would have bought a 2018 Clarity last year and then traded to a 2019 Clarity this year.

My experience is with two sheets you won't have dirt or grease reaching the carpet. Worst case if I do get a stain then just prior to selling the car I will install a mat. Even if the buyer happens to look under the mat and see the stain I doubt if I would lose the sale. and anyway there would be a nice shiny new mat back there not a beat up and grungy one.

After six months I’ve noticed that the standard Honda floor mats don’t cover the hump that rises up toward the edge of the drivers seat and I’m already seeing some signs of wear on the carpet on that hump where my foot is resting when using ACC. Living in Southern California I’m not concerned very much with ice snow or mud so I don’t want the rubberized all weather mat look. I like the coverage of the 3D Maxpider mats and their Kagu line of weatherized mats doesn’t look too bad. Unfortunately it looks like 3D doesn’t make mats in their classic line of carpeted mats for the Clarity, those are the ones I’d really like to have.

I’ve tried both WT and Husky in my other vehicle. Both show staining from the winter mess but the WT is a bit less likely to get surface marring. Both take extra effort to clean; perhaps more so with the WT. I kept the WT because of a better fit. Others on here have used Tuxmat.

Exactly the same experience with Weather Tech floor mats in my 2017 Accord Hybrid. Their trunk mat was excellent, though. For my new Clarity I think I'll get the Weather Tech trunk mat and Tux Mat floor mats.
