At first I thought the Nokians were slightly noisier, but so slightly I could barely be sure. (The expert guy at Cal Tire who mounted the Nokians said they would be quieter for sure.) After 3000 km, I think the Nokians are probably quieter than the Nexens. I wish I could drive a Nexen-shod Kona to be certain of that. I'm hoping that another Kona will turn up at the BMW Car Club of BC's "Dancing with Cones" event on April 13th.

Hey All,
Not sure if anyone else is looking to get rid of the ugly yellow halogen turning lights that are incorporated into the headlights?
It's a bit of false advertising from Hyundai's perspective - they claimed "FULL LED" headlights - but the lights that come on when you turn the steering wheel under 40 km/h to illuminate your turn are actually Halogen bulbs. It bothered me turning my wheel and seeing ugly yellow light.
I found these on Amazon (Canada). They fit perfectly and are relatively bright! The colour matches the headlight LED's perfectly.

Love to see a night shot of those new lamps. It was really disappointing to see the signals and cornering lamps are halogen, but the cornering lamps do seem to be quite effective. Have you noticed any loss of brightness ?
I am wondering if changing our signal lamps would affect the flash frequency. This happens with older style signal timers as they sense the current. LEDs typically draw less current so wasteful loading resistors are needed to correct the flash rates. I might consider an upgrade of the signal lamps but not if I need to add load resistors.

I’ll attach a photo - not really a night shot - I took it at around 19:00 EST here. I’ll post some more later if I get a change.
There’s a slight loss of light. But it’s pretty much negligible between the halogens. They look far sleeker.
As per your other comment - I think it’s a non-issue these days. Most LED’s come with voltage regulators built in. It might be worth a shot! I’ve never actually looked at the car at night - any idea if the license plate lights are LED?

There’s pretty much an LED version of every bulb these days. I’ve been replacing bulbs with LED’s in my vehicles for about 12 years now. I remember paying $50 per LED bulb for a license plate light on my 08’ VW Rabbit lol!
Once I get the bulb type and find a decent pair on Amazon to test, I’ll post it in here!

Does anyone know if the Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) can be turned off? I would like to turn it off to see how much difference there is. I think it sounds cool now...........sounds like the skytrain in Vancouver.

It cannot be turned off in the US and Canada. However, somebody found out that you can just unplug the module that is in the front right under the hood, middle front. So for your testing purposes that should work fine.

I had my wife put the car in drive while I poked around listening for the VESS speaker and I found it up top right in front of the radiator. I unplugged the module and did some driving to see if it affects anything besides the noise. So far, everything is still working great and the car is QUIET! The noise was fun for the first week but when sitting in Los Angeles traffic at 10 mph, it gets a little annoying. I'll post on here if I come across any issues. Here's a picture of the module.

I really don't want to sound snarky but disabling a pedestrian safety system seems questionable. Turning on the fan or radio seems a better solution.
