Share your inventive charger mounting solutions

Anyone come up with a good way to mount the charger in their garage? I had a Ford C-Max Energi previously and the Ford charger came with a nice spool to hold the cable, and the spool mounted easily on the wall with 4 screws.

The Hyundai set up doesn't look as mount-ready and I'm not very good at this type of thing, so if you mounted yours on the wall post some pics and help a guy out! I don't drive much (take public transportation) so for now I plan to just go with the level 1 charger at home, since my battery should almost always be full when I take the car out to go somewhere.

We have a level 2 Charge Point charger that is mounted neatly on the wall and things spool up nicely. We also have a C-Max Energi! I do wish my 2016 Energi had more safety technology and I would be a happy person. We will be trading the Energi in on a Volvo PHEV in the next couple of months so that we have comfort with our dogs for long road trips. I find I am having a hard time adjusting to the Kona EV every time I drive the Energi, I find the Energi has so much more room and comfort. Love the turning radius and sunroof that opens on the Kona and not buying petrol, but I have to say the Energi is nicer in many ways. What are your thoughts in comparing the two cars? Just curious.

Probably early for me to give a really good comparison. I will say that the Energi is an excellent car - I had zero complaints in the 2 1/2 years I had it. Well... other than I wished it would go farther than 20-25 miles on battery, which is why I decided to move to a full electric. The Energi has great driving position, comfy seats, easy to get in and out of, nice technology, everything works as it is supposed to, etc, etc. It's just a really nice car for around town or long trips. I drove it to SC and back twice this year and it was great.

I have solar panels on my house and overproduce, so anywhere I drive on battery power is basically free driving for me, so I wanted more than 20 miles. Otherwise I probably would have kept the Energi for like 10 years.

I haven't driven the Kona enough to really compare. I like how fast it is and it just feels so SOLID. I mean everything seems really tight and well made. I expect to keep this car a very, very long time. So far, I really love it!

Thanks for replying about your Energi. I thought maybe I was being a sentimental old fool about my Energi. lol I loved the C-Max design from the first regular C-Max hybrid we bought and then switched to the Energi. All the things you say are what I like. We would keep it for road trips to Alaska etc if it had good safety technology which it doesn't so hubby will get a Volvo PHEV for those trips.(If we decide we can afford it and will use it enough to warrant the purchase.)

No I think you're right on. I know Ford didn't sell many of them but that is a great freaking car. I assume the hybrid is a good car too - pretty much everything should be the same except the extra battery pack. Anyway, as someone who has had like 5 Hondas, I can honestly say I was impressed by the quality and design of the Ford C-Max. (the name, not so impressive lol )

But I think / expect to like the Kona even more. Even now I was just planning a weekend trip with some folks and saw it was only like 70 miles away and I thought... piece of cake. I'll have almost 200 miles remaining when we get there. Round trip without charging will be no problem at all. Yeah, I'm going to love this car.

I bought a Juice Box Pro 40 for $499 at Costco. I added a mounting board that is bolted into the studs.
I went to the garden section of the local Home Depot and bought a metal hose holder. See picture.

you are welcome. 2 goals/observations, the entire unit with cable weighs 18 pounds, most of this weight is in the cable. I wanted to reduce the strain of the weight of the cable off of the main unit where it attaches on the bottom. The hose reel is also bolted into a stud. it may not look pretty but it is secure and off the floor.

New to EVs, after I got my Kona Electric 2 weeks ago, I quickly realized the included trickle charger wasn't going to cut it. I park outside so needed the charger out there too. I liked the 30A Siemens Versicharge; weather proof and integrates nicely on top of the 6-50 outlet I installed on the front of my garage. $455 on Amazon plus $100 of bits to run a 40A line from the service panel.
