Makes a mockery of Nissan's claim that the corporate housing they acquired was done without their knowledge. When Hiroto clearly knew about it in 2012.

Thanks for the link, Gooki.

Strange to see how thoroughly this case is unraveling. I guess the Nissan board thought that Ghosn would cave in to the usual "enhanced interrogation" treatment that the Japanese give to those arrested, and that there wouldn't be any close examination of their trumped-up charges. At least, based solely on the articles that have been linked to this thread, it doesn't seem that a reasonable person would believe the charges would hold up to scrutiny.

Of course, all I know is what I've read in these reports. I know from personal experience that what is reported by newsies is often wrong, or at least biased and/or incomplete.

Nissan committee recommends dissolving chairman position.

Sounds like Nissan is attempting to reduce Renault's control on the company, as the chairman role is one of the positions Renault can directly appoint.

Renault is playing it cool for now. The up coming shareholders meeting will tell us if Renault is truly happy or if they'll attempt to take control of Nissan.

Ghosn on Twitter, press conference April 11.

TOKYO -- Former Nissan Motor Chairman Carlos Ghosn has set up a Twitter account and declared his eagerness to share his version of the events that led to his arrest and dismissal.

The Brazil-born tycoon on Wednesday tweeted that he intends to hold a news conference on April 11. This will be Ghosn's first time speaking in public since his March 6 release on nearly $9 million bail, after more than three months in a Tokyo detention center.

Ghosn publicly requests support from French government.

It also looks like Ghosn may have prerecorded his April 11 announcement.
I clicked the link and got the message, "SOMETHING WENT WRONG We are sorry for any inconvenience and are working hard to solve the problem. Please try again soon."

Hmmm. o_O

(probably nothing)

In any case, the AP has a good version of the story. Apparently, he gave an interview to a French outlet -- TF1 television -- in which he predicted his rearrest and also said, “I am calling on the French government to defend me and preserve my rights”

p.s. Asian Review link in previous post now works for me.

Ok, the key sentence from Asian Review article indicating he may have prerecorded his public statement about the situation: "Ghosn recorded another video before his arrest, said Junichiro Hironaka, who leads the former auto executive's defense team. Hironaka did not say when that video would be released."
