When will GM start to sell cars in Europe again?

There was a period of about a decade that cars from the Chevrolet brand were on sale in Europe, but since a few years that is not the case anymore. Because GM had decided to not sell any Chevrolet cars in Europe anymore.

But now GM has sold the Opel (and Vauxhall) brand to the French PSA.

Will GM re-introduce Chevrolet in Europe in the near future?
 
If PSA group are not too stupid, they must have included a clause in their sale contract that keeps GM off Europe for a few years.
 
Maybe. They agreed or not depending on the money at stake. They stopped selling Chevys years before the deal with PSA, so if they could get a few more dollars for staying like this say five years or so, why not? We will know.

But now they have nothing.

At the moment GM is not selling any car in Europe.

Therefore GM should start selling cars in Europe again.
 
I recall the Ford Mustang selling very well in Germany. If GM introduces cars, including the camaro, I think they will be surprised how well the sell
 
Not selling any cars in Europe, is a missed oppertunity.

GM is a very big player in the automotive industry.

I cannot imagine that they could have agreed to the clause to not sell any cars in Europe.

That would simply be stupid.
 
Toyota cars are sold in every country.

That is why they are able to sell so many cars every year.

Yes there is competition in every market, but deciding to not compete is the worst choice.

The quality of your product will capture it's marketshare.

GM not selling any cars in Europe for another 5 years is a massive waisted opportunity.

How can they be so stupid?
 
As I mentioned in another thread, I think GM is just slow to change, stick to tradition- they still prefer superchargers over turbo. Wasn't very long ago they were making 7.4L V8's in camaros.

Side fact: Toyota sells more cars than Honda and others because of rental car sales
 
Today I was informed that Pamela Fletcher has been put in charge of the new EV division of GM (Global Electric Vehicle Programs).

In the next 6 years GM will introduce 20 new EV models.

I am sure GM would want to sell all these new EV models in Europe as well.
 
I don't think they will start immediate sales in Europe, and my guesstimate 5 year timeline is similar to their 6 year plan so I wouldn't hold your breath. Hopefully they start sooner than later tho

The Mustang is selling very well here in Britain too, I always see a few every day. And, surprisingly, it's the V8s that are outselling the EcoBoosts. Though, if someone has £38k [about $50k USD] for a V8 Mustang, they can afford the petrol to go in it.
Would a Camaro sell just as well?
Maybe if GM had the foresight, like Ford, to shift the steering wheel over to the right side of the car.

Me? I'm just sitting here wanting a RHD Ampera-E.

Yeah, I heard that as well! Surprising draw for muscle cars in Europe, but cheap power is always attractive. I definitely think camaro would sell well, but that is just the hook for GM to start selling other models.

Of course, it didn't help that they were trying to sell us rubbish. Insipid garbage like the Spark [ICE], Aveo, and the Cruze. Seriously, if you're going to try and sell us a tin-can with Tic-Tac plastics like the Spark (and I drive a Renault!!), at least send the EV version- I hear the drivetrain is pretty damn groovy.

I'd wager that Dacia helped finish off Chevrolet in Europe. Really, Chevy only had one USP; they were slightly cheaper than Ford, Vauxhall, etc. Then Dacia came along offering slightly better, but much cheaper.
