Who in Canada is waiting for the Clarity

I thought no hope for me but some on this thread (thanks to him) show that there was a Base model available around 400km from my house . After some phone call , email... I put down the deposit and got the Base model 2 weeks later . So no negotiation, I pay the MSRP price plus $240 CAD for the All season floor mats and have to make the 400km trip to get it home. I feel I am lucky enough to get it :)

Yes, it happens here too although the government incentive just $5000 compare to $13000 in ON. At the time I was looking for the Clarity , there are no Honda dealer in Vancouver mainland have it, except one Touring in Victoria and my dealer said my car was their first Clarity.

Well after waiting for almost 6 1/2 months, my car has finally arrived. I should be able to pick it up some time next Monday.

I ordered the Honda floor mat when I order the car but I have decided to get Tuxmat instead. If anyone in Ottawa or Canada are interested in the original Honda all season mat, let me know. I got them to give it to me half price so it's C$130+tax+shipping.

Mine never showed up on CarGurus, but it did show up on the dealership's site listed for sale in their new vehicle inventory. (In fact I think it's still there.)
 
Wow, thanks guys! Glad you all are on the ball. I haven’t heard a peep from the dealership. I had sent a message on Thursday asking them to confirm the registered the Car properly with the government to qualify for the rebate. No word on that or that the Car was closer than it had been. I have to check, but I think it was a good 2 or 3 weeks that last cars showed on Parkway’s inventory, so it could be that they list them good and early and that it takes a while to actually get delivered. Fingers crossed that the car was properly registered for the rebate and that it is close to delivery!

Well, after exactly 6 and a half months wait. I finally received my car this evening. The Odo has 10km on it and the range said 650km which is higher than the correct range of 550km. My dealer told me they had applied the fix so I will see if the range goes down in the near future. I specifically told my dealer to make sure the body plug is put in and my son thinks they are in but I will look closer tomorrow when it's brighter outside.

Drove about 25km in town with the headlight on, it was not as bad as I thought reading from a couple of the other threads but will need to drive this car at night at a dark place to really check out the light and high beam.

This car is about 13 inches longer than my old Elantra and I will have to learn to park the car in the garage carefully.

One good thing is my dealer takes care of the rebate (I have to sign the paper to let the Ministry of Transport to pay the money directly to the dealer) so I don't have to worry about it.

I told my dealer to order the Owner's manual last week so hopefully I will get it in a few days.

Things to do
- Install Tuxmat
- Install webcam
- Buy RainX
- Put a jug of windshield washer in the trunk cubby hole
- Go thru all the settings, radio stations, program the garage door opener etc
- Need to look into winter tires and rim in 2 months

Now debating if I want to spend $2000 to install the Level 2 charger or not...
 
Now trying to figure out how to get HondaLink app working. I am stuck at the 'Enter Personal PIN' page and after I enter my PIN, got 'Invalid Code' message and the app in the phone kick me back out to the 'Enter Code/ Resend Code' page...

Congrats on getting your Clarity! Post some photos! :)

I had to do the "resend code" several times and then there was a delay and I had several messages in the message centre with the codes.
 
Amy, I got the code. It's just the step after entering the Code is enter Personal PIN and that's where I am stuck
 
Hmm, that did not happen to me. Do you have to enter it twice? Maybe you're entering too many or not enough digits? Some people have also said that they could not set up HondaLink until the dealership had reported the delivery to Honda.
 
I tried it twice, same result. The personal code is 4 digits, right? I will give it another couple of days, then I will bring it to my dealer and see if they can figure it out.

Amy, so after you enter the personal code, then what happens?
 
I did it with the salesperson sitting in the car so I don't exactly recall, but I am pretty sure that was the last step and then the features in the app worked. I remember being very surprised that my name and email were already in the profile in the App, because I didn't enter them. This leads me to believe that the dealership had already reported my info and the delivery to Honda so that it would be working right away. If I were you, I'd call the dealership and ask if they have reported the delivery and verify the email address they entered, because either of those could be the issue.
 
Thanks Bert, I have been following that thread and I have called Honda Link support and it's a mis-spelling of my email address so hopefully it will be fixed soon, he said 24-48 hours to get my correct email address into the system
 
I guess after 6 1/2 months of waiting, 24 to 48 hours isn't bad. LOL. I'm closing in on almost exactly 6 months, and really wishing that the dealership would return my calls/emails about the 832 that is expected. (Again, I noted that last time cars showed up with the dealership, there seemed to be a two week lag from VIN to delivery) . Cutting it soooo close to the deadline.

I filed my Competition Act complaint here: http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/eic/site/cb-bc.nsf/eng/h_03167.html with the link "Complaint Form." Below is the portion that you are welcome to cut and paste. I don't want to promote spamming the agency with these complaints though -- I am pretty sure that one complaint is enough if they deem it worthy of their time. On the other hand, it is possible that they need evidence from other customers. The major issue in my opinion is the distortion to the marketplace from a) increased shopping costs, and b) harm to their competitors by signing final and binding agreements with potential customers.



Honda Canada has advertised its Clarity model as an eco-friendly Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle, benefitting from the halo effect that this has on the company's image. However, these vehicles are not ordinarily available. Honda Canada has systematically distorted the competition in the marketplace by making substantial representations to the contrary about their availability, in violation of 74.01 (1) of the Competition Act ("Deceptive Marketing Practices / Misrepresentations to the Public"). These substantial misrepresentations included the signing and systematic breaching of a significant number of purchase agreements.

Buying a brand new vehicle with a new powertrain takes a significant amount of time and effort. Society as a whole of course benefits from the shopping costs. When time and effort is expended on products that are not available for sale, these shopping costs are wasted and the credibility of the marketplace suffers.

In Honda's case, the misrepresentations to the public included the signing of binding purchase agreements that customers were unable to unilaterally cancel (these were not "reservations"). These agreements prevented Honda's competitors from selling to these customers.

There is also a violation of 74.04(2) ("Bait and switch selling") Anecdotal statements in on-line forums indicate that many customers were offered the ability to purchase the Touring version of the Clarity, even though it was the Base model that they agreed to purchase. Many customers felt compelled to change their order to a Touring because of anxiety about the delivery of Base models in time to qualify for the Ontario rebates.
