Hello All,
I've finally decided to give up on getting a Leaf because of range anxiety. While looking for one, I learned about using the Leaf Spy Pro app and OBDIII dongle to look at battery health.
I've been looking for something similar to test Bolt battery systems but wonder now if it is necessary IF:
I have found a 2017 Bolt, too far away to go test first, but within my price range. The car was bought back (Lemon Law in NY) and the battery replaced with a new one, with whatever system updates, etc. When told it was still under warranties, I asked and learned the above.
He said, "Correct, the bolt battery has a limited part warranty that started 12/11/2024 and ends 12/11/2032 or at 167,493 miles. It also has the buyback warranty active until March 29th of 2026 or 79,518 miles." (current mileage on the car is 69,518.)
So, the bigger question is, can I purchase such a vehicle without worrying about all the testing stuff and trust that the warranties are sufficient protection? I think it is a great deal for $8,800 (before fees) when higher mileage '17 and '18 Bolts are going for the same or more in my area. It would mean a 20 hour trip by bus & train to go see it (a 5 hour drive but I don't have a car), but I don't want to give up on what might be the best deal I will find.
Thanks for all your opinions and advice in advance.
