I don't really want to fork over $30 month to pre-heat my car a few times per week prior to my commute.

Is there any other method of doing this, rather than paying for Kia's (absolutely ridiculous) subscription fees?

I think it's $240/yr for the basic stuff including remote startup. That is what I have. To answer the question, of course! Go out, turn on the car, shut and lock the door.

I assumed that I did not have to specify "remote" pre-heating is what I am after, and not looking to pay a subscription service for it.

Build a heated garage for it? . . . Sorry, I'm working on cleaning my garage out so I can get my cars in it again. . . To my point, $250/year is not exactly expensive compared to the $40,000 car. I assume by "remote" you mean press a button on a keyfob. Frankly the hyundai app is borderline abysmal. I've complained multiple times about it. Maybe look for a 3rd party device? Security stuff may prevent that.

If you are plugged in and have a consistent departure time, you can program the car to do it without the app. '20 EV anyway
I won't pay for the stupid app. It is horrid first of all and they already got my money.
