This member has a 24 MY Kona EV and has posted some good reviews so far. Also from snowbelt Ontario so hopefully he rings in and gives some additional info with respect to winter traction.
The New Gen Kona EV has
less torque than the previous years so the front tire spin should be improved.
I have ordered the 25 MY and am looking forward to testing in winter conditions.
I did order an N line model c/w 19" wheels which may give different results than the typical 17". A good feature is the 19" wheels give
higher ground clearance as well, something I am sure is on the back of your mind. The pack is also finished with a metal bottom (unlike the composite material in the I5 - susceptible to damage from road debris).
Maybe read through the thread on
New Generation Kona EV , keep in mind I believe there are other owners as well from Australia which should help as well.
I was on the list for an I5 (25MY) but with the addition of V2L on the 25 Kona EV and other enhancements, I have decided to stick with Kona EV for my replacement.
Link to the manual - check out pages 6-43 and 6-44 on "Snow mode". It mentions torque is distributed properly to the wheels to help start the vehicle stably on slippery roads or to keep tires from slipping. In addition, on the drive mode chart it shows regen is limited 0-1.
