Settled with insurance on the 3rd. The car is now at a Copart. My wife wants an automatic in the house besides her XC90 in case hers is in the shop. The woman who autocrossed our 944S2 while pregnant no refuses to drive a manual, or play with steering wheel paddles.

We seriously considered leasing a 2024 SE. Last month (assume same this month) BMWUSA was offering $19,000 off MSRP on a lease in CO. MSRP is $35,220 with a 43% residual after 2 years at 7,000 miles a year. We would have done it but CO registration fees are bases on MSRP and age. I paid $900 for one year for the '23 SE, and $85 for my '08 128i. Add that and insurance is about $900 a year more for an SE than a 2014 Cooper S so on the 5th we bought a 2014 S with 42K miles and paddles that we found locally. She likes the color and chrome package. I like the paint meter readings. We plan on buying a new model SE with the longer range. She also wants the smaller Rivian to replace her XC90 (I want an infusion of cash for that one).

We did not consider a different brand EV. We both agreed we want something fun to drive and the competition just doesn't cut it.

I will be selling the JuiceBox and BMW charger as soon as the check to the bank for the loan clears.

I went with a lease. Not sure it was the best idea, but I am breaking even on my monthly cost vs gas saved on the 3.5L SUV and free charging. Here in MA we get hit with an excise tax that is calculated on the msrp so I got whacked with an $850 tax, but that would happen with any new purchase. It drops over 5 years to 10% of msrp at $25 per $1000 value.

F56 SEs must be in short supply now with the move to the F66.

cheers

I have a juicebox and the BMW charger that was used one time to test. How much should I ask?

Here's a Juicebox on eBay for $147.02 with free shipping. One sold for $66.43 (free shipping) on 4/20/24.
Here's a lightly used MINI Cooper SE OEM EVSE on eBay for $260.99 or best offer (plus $15.90 shipping). One sold for that much (same shipping cost) on 6/13/24.

Thanks. I have the newer juicebox. For $147.02 i will unplug it and let it hang on my wall. For 147.05....

I think 250 and 150 is a fair number. I have them for more on Craigslist. Will modify ad in a week or two. I did put "asking" in the ad.

If you had specified which Juicebox you have, the eBay search would have been more informative.

I forgot there were two. I just motor along in my partial oblivion. I do appreciate you pulling the comps. I am catching up with life after two months with the insurance company, the search for a replacement, and my wife deciding to demo and redo the master bathroom days after the car was hit. Sleeping on an air mattress in the basement for the last however long.

After my "High Voltage System" error message experience, which required dealer to spend TONS of time to figure out what's wrong. I think I would lease my next car if I am keeping the EV route. I would lease the car right before the warranty expires and lease a new one. Most dealers love this kind of customers. They will get back almost new cars, make a new car sale, make some money on residual value vs used car sale value, and keep an old customer... One of my friends has been doing this for years. He is happy, because he will get good rates, good discount and most of all not worrying about repairs, and dealers never charge him on minor things like scratches, tires wear, etc. Of course, accidental damage will be another story. The only drawback is that you have to stick with one make for at least a couple of times.

It's not necessarily a drawback. I've been driving Mini's for more than 20 years now. I bought the first one and my current one (but only because they weren't leasing SEs). The other three were leased.

Many bash leasing. When I lived in NY I told friends who kept a car 4-5 years to lease with zero down. Why? Park it on the street and it gets sideswiped, just take it to the dealer let them do a crappy repair job and you don't have a diminution of value when you ty to get rid of it. If it gets stolen just walk away. No arguments with insurance companies.

Now that I have garage space we can buy and keep longer. Uh Huh! If I leased my SE I would not have spent almost two months dealing with insurance when it was hit head on while parked. I would have walked away.

I leased every EV up until the SE, just bc we had no lease option here in the states. Nice getting a new car, latest tech every 3 years, option to buy at lease end. Bought our Clarity and flipped it for a few $k during the pandemic craze.

I just read that Carvana is taking the $4k federal credit off their sale price, if you qualify (used cars under $25k, max income, etc.). There are a few SEs on their site.

in Colorado BMW was knocking 19 off MSRP for the SE lease. 16k with a 14k residual. Colorado upped their tax credit after august 2022 and with the federal for leases, it was in June (probably still is) about 2500 for a two year lease for 7,000 miles a year. It is the registration of about 900 a year and higher insurance that pushed us into a 42k mile 2014 S that will be an outside car.

Ive always leased my cars and even more so with EVs. Our gas F55 Cooper S we leased then bought back, kept for 16 months and traded it. Got back what we paid for it… I might do the same on the SE 14k buy back but mileage will be low. 500e is 100% keys getting tossed back

Canada has terrible lease offers compared to USA. Ugh
