Hi all, my first post here. It wasn't clear from various sources, but the BMW 15x5.5 wheel with tire 175/65R15 (the winter tire package 36112460621) will not fit the Mini SE. It will bolt up, but there is less than half a mm clearance between the rear brake caliper and the wheel. A thin piece of cereal box cardboard will be trapped.

The SE has 280mm Justa front brakes. !5's will go over those justa fine. 294mm ones from the S are very tight for 15s. My R53 has 294 front brakes and very little clearance to it's konig 15s. The rear brakes are the problem on the SE. They are 280mm from the Countryman, the calipers are pretty bulky. I've been wanting to find some 15s to autocross on, but nobody will give me a wheel clearance drawing. I'm not wanting to buy a set of wheels to see if they fit...

Weird, but yes, that makes sense (as only 16" and 17" were offered).

(Which raises a question: what's the smallest wheel that will fit on the new J01?)
I think I remember MINI's offering 17" and 18" wheels on the J01, so maybe even 16" wheels would not fit. I wonder if BMW forced Great Wall Motor to use MINI's 5x112 bolt pattern and the 56.1 mm center diameter? Will the offset be the same?

Do you like my big brake conversion?
15" 10.6lb SSR wheels. I may have accidentally touched both rear calipers with a belt sander. Fortunately, not a highly stressed area. Tyres are Nankang CR-S 225/45-15 front. Yokohama A052 205/50-15 rear.

Only skills of driving specific car is important doesn’t matter what wheels they put on SE if they Sunday drivers commute to work

I'm pretty sure everything goes in the right direction with smaller wheel/tire diameter. Issigonis had it right with the original Mini.
Unless you are going for brutal appearance or compensating for something.
Even F1 cars had 13-15" wheels until recent rule changes.

OK you can fit giant brakes in bigger wheels, but that's already irrelevant if ABS is engaged and you're not well above normal highway speeds.
I'm personally not fond of the giant wheels on a lot of new models, they just looks like Matchbox cars to me.

if you can spin the wheel then technically it fits. Heat dissipation is another story.
If the caliper goes in, there is room for air to get out. Wheel design has the biggest effect on cooling air. My pentacle wheels are very open.
I have not found the SE brakes lacking, since I put EBC pads in. I strongly suspect the battery will wimp out before the brakes do.
