Using Fumoto valves on Clarity or Hondas in general?

Thanks KentuckyKen, I'll cancel my Amazon order for the F106N and order the F106SX directly from Fumoto instead. It's $5 cheaper directly from Fumoto compared to Amazon.
 
I'm considering F106SX with the SH-10 recommended by @KentuckyKen to drain the oil directly into a gallon jug. But how do you handle the oil dripping from the oil filter when it's removed? I feel like I'd still need to keep the oil pan for that and if I'm keeping the pan I might as well forgo the Fumoto. What do you guys do?

Part of this may depend on how much you drive. We don't drive enough to warrant oil changes more often than the minimum once per year. I agree that there is no obvious way to avoid a 'mess' when changing the filter, so the valve doesn't really add much to the equation. If you had to change the oil twice a year (and maybe you decide to only change the filter every other time), it may be worth it. Also, although this is maybe more paranoia than reality, the valve does add extra interfaces that could result in potential leaks over time.
 
The Fumoto valve comes with a little clip that says "Fumoto." This clip is supposed to be clipped onto the valve to prevent the valve from opening unintentionally. If you are changing your own oil, you've got the clip issue covered. If a dealer or oil change place is changing it, you risk the safety clip not being clipped back on and the valve opening unintentionally. You also risk the clips holding the cover plate not all being put back on either. If the clips in the middle of the front of the cover plate are not attached, the plate will sag and if you live in an area with snow - it will scoop up snow - and unintentionally open the Fumoto valve.

I just take it to the dealer.

Installing the valve would reduce or eliminate the possibility of busting a knuckle, snapping off a drain plug, cross threading the plug, over tightening, under tightening, etc.

My riding mower is equipped with a similar device and it does make the process quite simple and clean.
 
I have the Fumoto valve installed and, as noted above, can drain the oil pan right into an empty 5L oil container (so no drip pan needed). For the filter, I put a funnel on the 5L container and then position it so the dripping oil from the filter runs down into it. I considered using painter's tape to create a temporary "drip-point" in the oil's path but didn't need to - I just position the funnel correctly. With the front wheels on ramps in my slightly-sloped driveway, everything lines up perfectly to complete the task without an oil pan - I only have to clean the funnel and wipe up the short oil path from the filter. I wish oil changes were this easy and clean for all of my other vehicles.
