TEI also supplied the castings for the Cadillac Celestiq.

GM seems to be setting the ground work for their future EVs and other products.

This acquisition also deprives Tesla of a local sandcasting/gigacasting partner and must now work with its 3 overseas gigcasting suppliers.

"General Motors acquired Tooling & Equipment International (TEI) to bolster its portfolio of innovations and secure access to unique casting technology," GM said in a statement to Reuters in response to questions for this story.

Will insurance companies will be more likely to write off gigacasted cars as totaled after what used to be minor accidents?
