Son and i took a test ride yesterday, and was quite disappointed. We also test drove the Ford XLT EV, and it was better in all respects except range and fast charging.
The regen was very weird on the Silverado EV. It was very jerky and hard to get a smooth transition from stepping on the pedal and letting off. We tried both normal and high regen settings. Jerkiness was the same. We are both experienced EV drivers and none of our EVs have this issue, neither did the Ford. I asked the salesman if there was a setting to adjust this, but he said no, that is just the way it is. You could probably get used to it, but any experienced EV driver would not like it, I'm sure.
Another thing we didn't like with the Chevy is that is was not as smooth and quiet over the bumps as the Ford. We tested both on a rough road nearby. So the Chevy would not be as good off-road.
The Silverado had a lot of good reviews, so we expected better. There is no question for us that the Ford is the better truck EV.
