What did you do to your MINI today?

VLT 70 front sides, 30 rear quarters, hatch, and both roof panels, and whatever the clearest Xpel Prime XR+ offers for the windshield. I think it is VLT 70 or maybe 80. It’s honestly really hard to see it from outside.

First time using Electrify Canada and 3/4 dispensers were broken but in various ways. The one unit that worked did so well. It’s funny because the Civic was parked at the unit with a broken screen/card reader… 484725A0-2CA9-46F5-83F2-2C040BE63C0A.webp61FA29EA-8CF4-4DD4-98F3-5A796C1458DA.webpB6803D0C-B2D8-46CE-895C-F567B458D148.webp

Umm I got 5AR Traffic Jam Assist working with the remote coding help of a MINI F55 owner and enthusiast in Taipei, from the UK forum. I only went for a quick test drive this afternoon, and TJA really is as limited and rudimentary as one would expect, depending as it does on predictable behavior from the drivers ahead, as well as well-marked lanes – neither of which really exist in Montreal. But when the system did decide that it could see the edges of my lane, it took over the steering and I cackled out loud (and continued to do so for an absurdly long time).

I will get the TrackForm headrest camera mount installed tomorrow and see if I can’t get some video of the car taking over driving in traffic. More tk.

You are probably the first SE in North America to have autopilot enabled!

Maybe even the world lol. ;) As far as I can tell, his F55 is the first MINI with it enabled, and I’ve been chatting with him on PM since he demonstrated it just over a month ago.

-0.5° hub carriers showed up on Friday. Saturday afternoon, I pulled the car apart and swore until I got them on. I had a beer in hand and pizza in the oven at 11pm.
Sunday morning, drove to my next autocross event. Did tech inspection, signed in, walked the course, then set the toe. :D
I was a little cautious to start with. Only warp 8 on my first run. Hit my first cones!
The car feels more planted when not being thrown around. Looser when it is. Ideal for both DD and autocross. I still need to finalise race tyre pressures.
Shocks are the last real car upgrade that I can do in street stock class. It's loose enough already that I'm hesitant to throw a much stiffer rear bar on it. At least until I get better at catching it. I need safe handling for daily idiot dodging. It's a lot looser with the race tyres, which is good.

@pictsidhe some questions:
- Are the knuckles from a JCW?
- Are you winning the street class?
- If you aren't winning and just trying to have fun, what is the harm in getting coilovers?

I saw that one last week, then a white one outside Notre Boeuf and Academie in Pte-Claire the next day. Same engine (1.5/3) as the Cooper?

lol
I still haven’t been able to get good video. Roads around here are terrible, and all the lane marker paint is worn off after another long winter. Every time I enable TJA it works for a few seconds, then the car bongs a loud warning and I get pop-ups on the IC and HUD reading “Lane too narrow or unmarked.” TJA shuts off but ACC remains engaged. The warnings don’t need to be more assertive, because in a properly-TJA-equipped BMW, one’s hands are still “on the wheel.”

I’ll try to find some better roads nearby with fresh lane paint and a few curves. The city might be able to get around to painting new lines by next winter.

Congrats! Did you stop to charge more than once on your return?

Yes.
  1. Mount Vernon, MO
  2. Joplin, MO
  3. Nevada, MO
  4. Harrisonville, MO
17mph headwinds and broken chargers in Harrisonville (with the nearest backup option at least 12 miles away) made the return trip a bit more exciting than I prefer. But we made it!

Today, I hit 15K miles going 75 in a 55 on my favorite back-country road. I love this car!

Nice! I certainly enjoyed some spirited driving in the Ozarks while there, and the SE truly shines when pushed--as expected. :D

I swapped out the red rear fog light housings for clear ones with some upgraded projector style 921 bulbs in them. I have my rear fogs coded so they come on with the reverse lights. With the clear lenses and brighter bulbs they really improve the rear lighting when reversing. Love it!

Link? I was just thinking about this last night. The stock tiny little sliver of a reverse light just isn't cutting it.

I think the switch to a bright cool-white LED “bulb” in the reverse lamps was a big improvement for me. I like having the option of rear fog lamps as rear fog lamps. It’s been raining buckets the last couple of weeks (yay-strongest-El-Niño-year-ever!) and I like to be as visible as possible to others on the motorway.

I got these lights off eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/153344807854?hash=item23b41013ae:g:cCMAAOSwsQJcQncZ&amdata=enc:AQAIAAAA0BBQs1uJJBOhIuJLgKv+s4QcJorCrCkmsUbNciMQ2xeU864DcJjB6VjSgwy75N6zFEqC/y0r0FutBtzUuSBlBB8WNEE1ZuS0iOHrFegQxuaVUGSgJQOaPEXIB/JmcoGDiO7kVrKuP3Q4w5tJyzD53zYK+LDoIBozOAEAtR0toCpcrvrgzn6dWhhgZ3sDIEpAyuAB2QYDq3WdLE9pTUWt7uXzOl3FRDVUB62VDBwyfbQy75zkL7NXdXdrmZY9jRdQg3LkovGfh4+paiMy+lWe1E0=|tkp:Bk9SR_C4zZv8YQ

I went with the clear but they also have a smoked version if you want to have a little more subtle look: https://www.ebay.com/itm/123601735004?hash=item1cc73ccd5c:g:1MIAAOSwAThcQm4k&amdata=enc:AQAIAAAA0BH3siAzoy8W0CvQ3EngevC1GzGZ1hMNApVB7KTrvopT4OWenBiqSZ7dMeswRUafE0m0IGX8MrM7hV9JXmiDVV5s45FWjpJM3d8eKcw7XrfBhCyU+LWqhpToCLvtTeXhaBLYs9qC7ar/V9u8M07wUCKVmpUBP7QghUDMXCPKukXwYEPUEn9BS9Jvm6LkgGScpAIO23AGJwXf1uLejTkvKPah6GlO7kz4cQkm8g3nMmu5AgCiYXoPdSXpONclvFW8RAhFswqZ1juHoXu7Wl4lZhU=|tkp:Bk9SR_C4zZv8YQ

As for the bulbs, I got these off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Auxbeam-Backup-Reverse-Brighter-Projectors/dp/B0BLNM954J/ref=sr_1_23?keywords=921+led+bulb&qid=1683119399&sprefix=921+,aps,249&sr=8-23

Overall install was super simple. I had to remove two 8mm screws on each side so I could reach inside the rear area and unclip the light housing from the bumper cover. The lights then pop out toward the rear. Unplug the wire connector and connect the new light and pop it back into the bumper and you are finished there. I had previously recoded the rear fog lights to come on with the reverse lights (had to use expert mode in Bimmercode to do this). Here is what to change:

3064 Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_function = 0x0F (0x0F = reverse light function)
3064 Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_function = 0x0F (0x0F = reverse light function)
3064 Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_output = nsl_l (0x1C aka the physical left rear fog lamp)
3064 Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_output = nsl_r (0x1D aka the physical right rear fog lamp)

You would also want to change the "Is LED" for the rear fogs to aktiv so the car knows not to pulse the lights randomly to test for a bulb out.

I installed the DTE Pedal box, I have tried it out for a few days. The acceleration is nice with the sport and sport plus modes but the car is for sure less smooth with the regen braking. I am going to try and see if I can find the ideal setting otherwise send it back.
