Clarity extended warranty

I read in one of the threads that an extended warranty can be purchased from 10 years for $2,000. The poster noted its bumper to bumper warranty. I am curious to learn

1) Have others purchase such warranty and for how much?
2) What does the bumper to bumper warranty cover?

Got my Honda Care contract 8 yr/120,000 miles for $1714 from Saccucci Honda (internet sale). We also got an extended warranty for our 2018 Odyssey there. My thinking is that both vehicles (even more so with the Clarity) were basically new designs for Honda; a lot of new tech; and I wanted the comfort of knowing I won't have costly repairs down the line; can "gift" them to our children with plenty of warranty coverage remaining; or sell third party with same advantage. This goes DOUBLE if the Clarity turns out to be a compliance vehicle only and Honda pulls the plug (pun intended) after three years.

As far as coverage, go to the SaccucciHondaCare website and you can see coverage and a sample contract. The reason I went with Honda Care is pretty obvious - EVERY Honda dealer has to accept the warranty work, unlike insurance based third-party contracts where you often have to make the repair and seek reimbursement.
 
Thanks to this forum I found the Honda Care extended warranty at the lowest price at Hyannis Honda in MA. They have a large web presence for warranty sales. You can go there and purchase or get a written quote to have your dealer match which is what I did. It’s very fast and easy. Back in Feb, they had the best pricing

This is the genuine Honda Care that is tracked in every dealer’s System and not some third party you never heard of. I got the D80, 8y, 100,000m, 0 deductible for just $1,304. My dealer wanted $2,500!! and tried to sell me a third party one first since I’m sure he made more profit/commission on it.

You can also get the D82 which ups rhe miles to 120,000 ($1,554). The Hyannis site has the contract and it’s pretty good coverage but be sure to read all the details. Like dstrauss said it’s much better than the third party ones in that any Honda dealer can be used and they will all have you already in their record system so there will be no paperwork to fool with.
Since I keep my cars a long time, and other posts have noted the high price of parts, this was a no brainer for me.
Now I drive worry free for not much $.

And it has some nice perks:
-It’s transferable (no charge) and refundable (prorated) if you sell the car.
-Extends the roadside assistance to 8 yrs
-Includes family member’s cars on the roadside assistance if they drive a Honda or Acura.
-No paperwork or waiting for reimbursement

You can also get 120000 mile/6 year coverage, which we are considering (from hyannis) since we put more than 20k miles a year on our main commuter. Waiting to read over a contract - are there any exclusions of note that we should know about?
 
Hi Ken,

I looked at Hyannis and they don't seem to quote CA. Will still try to use their quote to ask dealership to match but not sure why.

Have no idea why they treat California differently. You might try inputting a different state to get the quote and use that. Hopefully you can get your dealer to match or at least come close. Based on my dealer starting at $2,500 and going down to $1,304, there is a lot of dealer markup/profit involved that can be negotiated.
 
It's pretty tempting to get the 6yr 120k miles for less than $1,300. They quoted me G48-G62 ($0 deductible) and F48-62 ($100 deductible) warranties.

What is a "D" warranty?

Never heard of a G or F. Are those actual Honda Care warranties or something else. The D is the no deductible Honda Care and the C is the $100 deductable Honda Care Warranty. Both available in different lengths of time and milage. They are a 3 digit plan code not the 5 digits that you posted. Make sure it’s a real Honda Care Warranty and not a knock off. Unless you’re in Canada and then maybe they have different designators.
 
Hmmm, those were right from the link you provided. They are three digits with G48 being 4 years 80,000 miles no deductible and different iterations up to G62 being 6 years 120,000 miles no deductible. The Fs are the same but with $100 deductible.

Could be something to do with the fact that we already have over 8,000 miles on the vehicle.

Well, I learn something new every day.
Might be. I have no info on it, just the D and C palm codes I was quoted for a new Clarity just after delivery.

Give Saccucci a try - maybe a little more expensive but far cheaper than dealers, especially their third party offerings.

I think the answer to what I have available at 8,000 miles is here...
“The best time to buy Honda Care is when your vehicle is still new and has less than 6,000 miles. This is when the longest terms are available and the best pricing is available to you.

You can purchase Honda Care as long as your Honda is a 2015 or newer and has less than 36,000 miles, but as you vehicle ages and you drive more miles, the plans available to you change and there are changes to the Honda Care pricing.”

Here's some more information I received from Hyannis today:

1. The mileage cutoff to get the C & D series (new car) warranties is 6,000 - so if considering those do it before you hit that.

2. The main difference I see in the F and G warranties are that they max out at 6 years.

3. Since I'm over the 6,000 miles they say I would get the "most bang for my buck" by waiting until I'm closer to 3 years or 36,000 miles.

Yes, let that sink in. He told me to not send them money yet but wait until I was closer to the cut off. That's the kind of treatment that will make sure I contact them in the future!

@K8QM, if you wait until you are close to 3 years or 36k miles, then most likley the quote will be higher since they adjust the price regularly (just like everything else, except pay:mad::mad::(:(). You might want to keep that in mind.

OTOH if in 30 months or 26k miles everything is running like clockwork, Honda has had firmware releases to fix issues and life is swell I would probably just bag the whole idea of a warranty and continue to self-insure as it is sometimes called. Insurance policies and extended warranties are just lottery tickets with different payouts.
