New BlueLink?

Have you tried Uninstalling and re-installing the APP ?
 
After 4 days of non-connecting, I uninstalled and re-installed Bluelink/MyHyundai and it made a little progress, but still with a selection of unpredictable results.
Most of the time, I use the app just for curiosity, but winter is coming, and in the absence of a key-fob remote "start", the ability to start "climate" is becoming more relevant. Last winter, the Climate Start function always worked, but the app always said it failed. At least it was consistent!
Hope they get their act together soon. Imagine if an app like this was controlling nuclear missiles! Oops sorry Berlin, that one was meant for Moscow. (very very dark humour).

The US version is terrible. I can’t imagine how much worse the Canadian could be.

welcome to leagcy auto trying to do software in house. The reliability of the software has improved form last version. But I when I received error that the command has failed : go to utilities at the bottom left and sign out. Then sign back in, usually it fix the problem after 2-3 tries :)
 
A couple of somewhat weird quirks I'm noticing with the new (Canadian) Bluelink: 1) I get notifications every time the car completes a charging cycle but the app does not automatically update its data. I have to manually refresh it in order to see the current state of charge. 2) I have the car set to charge on a time-of-day schedule each evening. I get a notification every time I've drained anything from the battery when the car reaches its preset 80% limit, never when I haven't driven. But I also get a notification every morning saying it's completed charging again. This is after I've seen the charging port lit up and the grill indicator light illuminated. Is it losing charge overnight? Is there a drain? Is it a response to the 12 volt top-up cycle? But if that's the case why don't I get a notification every time it completes a 12 volt charging cycle? Very confusing.

Every time the 12V battery is charged or topped up (c/w grill indicator light), there is a reduction in the SOC of the HV pack.
This alone (without any Bluelink enable), costs me on average about 2% per day, which I am happy to accept.

Who knows how many times the car has attempted to supply this information without a confirmation from the "mother ship" it may go on all night (or day depending). This will not only cost loss of SOC of the 12V battery, but also the HV pack trying to keep up on its preprogramed cycles.
I would expect at least 1% - 2% there alone- on a good day.

Hyundai actually got this one right, the wasted energy required to transmit that information probably would not equal the losses.;)
 
Yet again I have had to uninstall/reinstall this new app in order to re-establish connectivity with the car. What the hell, Hyundai?
 
BlueLink / Myhyundai no longer works on Android versions < 11. So it fails to install on my Note 9. Which is stupid. I will likely not be renewing. They pointed me to a PDF that contradicts the reality, stating that android 6 and up or something works, listing the Note 9 as a supported device. This is a prime case of 'Developers Run Amuck'. "We want the latest versions of everything to develop from and we have to target the bleeding edge, or we just can't write the software". "Why would you want to run it on an older phone?" I would fire the lot. The KIA app works just fine. Should be HTML5 with a functional back end api. It should not require a bleeding edge OS.
 
My Bluelink app just stopped working, emitting a messagebox about a Mandatory critical update to v 2.0.x and directing me to the Google Playstore. There did not seem to be a new version, but I uninstalled it and then found out that it will not install on my phone (Android 10). "This phone isn't compatible with this app".

The customer abuse continues.
 
I just contacted Hyundai and received the response that includes:

"due to the most recent upgrade which took place overnight on September 11, 2023, the Myhyundai with Bluelink v2.0.10 system requirements include having Android 12-14 as the operating system"​

I cannot imagine what feature from Android 12+ was required for this version that was not available in previous versions of the OS. I was also sent another email that includes a short list of supported phones, which has some that have Android 9-11 as the OS, so its certainly confusing.

There was a semi-useful bit though. You can use the browser on your phone instead of the app to do mostly the same things as the app:

"please download the Google Chrome application by visiting the Google Playstore. Open the app and type www.mybluelink.ca/register in the search then press search. Look for the three dots at the top right depending on your device, tap three dots to open up the Google Chrome menu, slide the menu up, and select 'Request Desktop Site' to change the mode of the browser to Windows Platform. The message to download the app will disappear, and you can then login using your mobile phone.

You can add it to your favorites for easy access."​

I have verified that this works, but the web page was built without responsive design in mind, so it does not adapt to your screen size. it is clunky to use due to the scrolling required to get to the buttons and info you need. Anybody not surprised?
 
That's nuts, most correctly-designed Android apps are happy to run on anything with 4.0 and up. This is
what they get by trusting noob CS kids who dwell on the new & shiny rather than actually writing good code.
The "restriction" may even be a totally false flag, arbitrarily imposed for no good reason.

If you can actually "do bluelink" in a browser instead, that's a lesson that the charging networks
desperately need to learn about their own infrastructures.

This is beyond the pale. Hyundai can stick it's app where the sun doesn't shine. I really do like my Kona EV, but I doubt I would get the Ioniq 5 over the Kia EV6 at this point. I don't upgrade/replace my phone every week to bleed on the edge with the latest android releases. The web version is terrible as well. I have been a developer, and I have run teams of develpers. IMNSHO the dev team for this application is abysmal to terrible. They should all be fired. This is not a complex application. If I were the CIO I would start firing the downline people VP's,Directors, Leads, and get someone who can write a mobile app to fix this. I have folks that could write something more performant and functional than the abject drivel they have now in 6 months. Given this product has been out for years this is pathetic.

When your DEV team walks up to you and tells you "We are going to write the software but it won't run unless you have bleeding edge hardware and software" you need to have a "Come to Jesus" meeting. I've been down this road I had developers "Refuse to write software unless they could have Tomcat 9 and the latest Java, 13 or something". I was pretty straightforward: "The platform we use that this is running on is Tomcat 8, and an older Java. This is fully supported and tested, and will get security updates on a regular basis. Until we decide to change our default platform across the board and validate everything we have will run on something else, this is the platform we use. If you think there is some reason what we need to write is incapable of running on that platform then we are going to have a series of meetings for you to explain it to me, and then I will explain to you why you are wrong."

Goodness, you could take anqular and throw together a prototype in a month. Pathetic.
 
I didn't think this required creating a new thread, but I had wondered why I hadn't received a MyHyundai notification the last few days when I knew I had left my doors unlocked at least twice when I got home from work while I was either taking out or bringing in the garbage cans. I just now tried to open the app and it won't because it says there's an updated version available and it wants to send me to the app store. Needless to say, the app store says the app is no longer compatible with my phone.

I have an Android 9 phone (Moto Z3) and the MyHyundai app had still been working up until now. I guess it's appropriate timing, though, since my 3-yr complimentary Bluelink subscription ends in a couple weeks and I wasn't planning on renewing, even at the discounted rate for which I'm starting to get emails.

This software fiasco is beyond the pale. It would be one thing if the app required deep integration into the phone but it's just a post and regurgitate. It's just lazy developers with their new toys (dev tools).
