Sources to learn about used EVs

Hi community,
I am looking to buy a used EV - maybe Hyundai, VW, or maybe Tesla. Does anyone know a good source for finding useful information on which car to buy?
Before I buy a used EV, I want to learn more about battery life, which MY is a good one to buy, how value of cars are expected to develop, etc.

Would be great if someone here could help me. Thank you!

A good referral list here to start, if one interests you, read through the appropriate forum thread to gather more useful information from owners. Good luck with your search as availability is still quite low at this time which may result in slightly higher prices.;)

The only used EV with a history of timely support from the manufacturer is the Nissan Leaf. The rest take ages to provide parts.
(Here in the USA, at least)

I strongly recommend considering the Chevy Bolt if you're looking for something more modern, with all its limitations.

It is my suggestion that any vehicle with large displays has an Achilles heel when all functions route through what amounts to a iPad.

Perhaps list your mandatory and optional requirements:
  • Mandatory - must be such as number of seats.
  • Optional - those which are desired such a quality sound system.

What is the reason that you are looking for a Used EV as opposed to new? In the old days, people bought used because they were much cheaper than new. With the makes that you are mentioning though, especially Hyundai or VW, if you are looking for the newer models like the Ioniq 5 or ID.4, in many cases, the used ones cost just as much as new. People here are pretty knowledgeable, so if you share more of what you are looking for, they can help better.
 
If you are looking at a used Nissan Leaf, make sure it has the correct traction battery. One individual stated that he got swindled by buying a used Leaf with an older model traction battery installed.
 
Now is really not the time to buy any EV. Used EV prices right now are insanely high, in some cases more than they cost purchased new. Also Evs contain large amounts of highly sophisticated electronic controls. As with any rapidly developing high tech product they tend to head into obsolescence quickly so you're buying yesterday's tech with a used EV. The used car prices are so high right now because of new car shortages.

If you can spare some throwaway cash just to dip your toes in the water a used Leaf might be a good choice. They seem to be cheap as dirt in the U.S. (not so in Canada) but stay away from the 2011 & 2012 models unless the battery packs are in really good shape. Also not a good choice if you live in an area which stays hot for a good part of the year and you want to take long trips. Be patient and stay informed with Inside EVs.
