RUDEWhy?
Why do you need to look at your phone when you are driving? It is a distraction and dangerous. You have buttons on your steering wheel to handle calls and you have a navigation screen much higher in the dash. You have Apple and Android integration too which again, is much safer than looking at your phone way down in your cup holder.
So again, why? What is the benefit? I see only risk associated with this and zero benefit.

He's also a 3D printer hobbyist that just saved $20.
I didn’t realize it would be so triggering. The purpose is to secure the phone when it is charging since the signature trim has no Qi charging or sufficient storage in the armrest. I have to plug into usb and the cupholder allows the phone to rattle around. This secures the phone and wireless CarPlay is still being used…safe!
That's an excellent point -- the MagSafe would make it perfect! That's why my Lightning failed!I think it's super cool! How do you route the power cable? Is there an opening under the channel that holds your phone through which you're able to route a Lightning cable, or are you using a MagSafe charging cable?
3D printed cup insert for my iPhone. The signature models have an armrest that is too narrow for the phone so I had this made.View attachment 15007 View attachment 15008

I don't need to look at my phone when driving because I use Apple CarPlay, but it would be nice to have it secured in a holder, rather than rattling around in the tray in front of the cup holders.
