Some people got the $850. Mine is processed and I'm waiting on it and the battery. The swaps are still being done but I have no sense of the pace. No idea if it's slower. End of March is still their posted intent for replacements. I'd certainly insist your dealer look into the rebate. Who cares about their silly deadlines. Lord knows, they haven't met any of theirs so why should you suffer for that?

Good Idea I might go and press them for the $850 next week. Wildeyed you haven't got your Battery either but they processed the $850. Interesting.

Ya, nothing about the $5/day rebate was tied to actually getting the battery. It was just guided by a start date and a dollar maximum.

More details: this was the 850 or in my case 745 as I had not hit the maximum number of days to make 850. Paperwork was submitted the day of Battery Change Oct 26
11 weeks, huh? I'm about to hit 8 weeks (of the promised 6 to 8 weeks) and am about to call to bug them about it. Still no battery swap for me.

Hello out there,
I thought it might be useful to start a thread for us Canadian Kona owners going through battery recall R0183.
I know there are other threads that talk about this but as Canadians, we will be dealing with different laws, different dealerships, and Hyundai Canada among other things that set us apart.
My Ontario dealership is not so sure that the remedy will be a battery replacement but I don't put much faith in their input as EVs are not a priority for them. I usually know more about what's going on with their electrified vehicles than they do.
So, I reached out to Hyundai Canada customer relations and expressed my concern with the lack of information regarding this recall, my frustration at having to manage through a reduced range, keeping my car parked outside (to any of our American cousins reading it's not the cold that's a pain during our winters, the scheduled climate controls take care of that, it's having to clean off the snow and ice that build up overnight) and the fact that I could potentially have a ticking time bomb sitting in my driveway, literally - remember the Kona that exploded in Montreal!
Anyhow, they took my info and said they would get back to me in 2-3 business days. That was last Thursday and no word yet.

Have any of you had better results?

Has anyone received the $250 gift card?

Would anyone know how to start up interest in a class-action lawsuit like the one happening in Korea?

Hi Everyone, we are having the same issues as you and any further updates from Hyundai Canada? We are located like you in Canada and our Winters get cold. With our new battery replacement for the recall R0183, we also noticed a significant range reduction up to 40% as we get around 285 km now. We had to fight to get our $250 for all the inconveniences since Hyundai Canada reduced our range by 80% remotely without our knowledge/permission. Our dealership can't help us and apparently they opened a case with Hyundai Canada but they haven't got back to us yet since they are assuming that our family or other Hyundai Canada owners will forget. They seem to be coordinating their efforts together to Delay, Deny and Deflect to assume their responsibilities from all these Kona EV lemons since we are getting the same error messages. We took photos of all the Kona EV error issues and from their diagnostics, they couldn't find anything while the proof shows the contrary. Transport Canada was no help to help/protect Canadian citizens and we would be interested to start an class action like they did on South Korea if other Kona EV owners join us in solidarity!

I went in this past summer to get an "inspection". Dealer said the battery would be ordered and the $250 would get to me eventually. Nothing happened.

Just got what I believe is the same recall letter (r0183 ?) a couple of weeks ago and my car is currently at the dealership getting some kind of software update. I told them that I believe I was already in for this in July or Aug... But they said it was a different update.

It's more than annoying at this point. I believe I first had to set my charging to 80% in the fall of 2020... and this is the 3rd time the car has been in for an inspection/update since then.

I had my new battery installed in the week before Christmas, with the dealer saying that my $850 claim would be processed. I did not claim the $250, which surprised them, but then neither did I visit them specifically for the purpose of verifying my charge level was set to 80%. Unlike some here, I think Hyundai Canada is trying hard to complete this recall by April. It's not only hideously expensive for Hyundai Motors, but it's logistically challenging on at least two fronts: supply chain disruptions and the global shortage of battery cells, which AFAIK limit the number of new EVs produced. This might not be a popular view here, but I think you guys should cut Hyundai Canada some slack.

Believe me, I am more patient and reasonable than most. The point I'm frustrated with is that I was told in July that I would get a new battery within a month or two and that my $250 would follow shortly.

Six months later I'm in for another software update and was told today that I'm not getting a new battery and everything is great after 2 software updates... and the service guys had no idea why I was talking about when I mentioned the $250 (obviously different guys than were there in the summer).

This is my 3rd Hyundai, 2nd ev from them, and I just wish they would know what is going on. I know there is communication issues between corporate and the dealerships, but they have had well over a year to at least have a somewhat consistent message.

They lost my respect a long time ago with multiple attempts(mostly failed) to communicate with them. Any ill will that has been generated has been deservedly earned by Hyundai.

Some people got the $850. Mine is processed and I'm waiting on it and the battery.

Interesting... today I called the dealer, and requested the $5/day, max $850, deal. (In my case, I I have been waiting for many months and qualify for the full $850). The Service Manager called me back to say that this would not be processed until after the battery had been replaced. This does not seem to square with what I have read on this forum, if some are getting the $850 before the battery has been replaced. As for the battery, they do not have an ETA, but that I am "next on the list". We will see. As for the $850 deal, not a big problem, just wanted to shorten the lead time involved. ....Rickker

My dealer certainly told me it would be 6 to 8 weeks and never mentioned it being contingent on the battery swap being done. But, having said that it has been 8 weeks and I have not seen the money OR the battery. I would point out that the internal paperwork itself does not mention anything about battery swaps being required.

So there's been zero activity on this thread for ages. Have Canadian battery replacements stalled completely?

Nope. Crickets.

As detailed previously, my original dealer finally concluded that they were never going to get the battery lift and other gear so would never be assigned any batteries.
At that point my case was transferred to a dealer 100km away who already had the gear and had already done some swaps.
That was in early November. Since then... nothing.
