Canadian pre-orders now available

Our prices show $46944 but don't forget the "Price includes Delivery and Destination charges, fees, levies". The destination charges I believe are $1900ish. Add to that AC and tire levies which puts the price just below $45K for Essential.
On the Preferred the long range AWD comes in at just under $55 excluding PDI. The Ultimate is like an added option on this trim.
To compare, we also have an ID.4 on reserve. The AWD version of this is just under $50K but you can add on the $8K Statement package and still be eligible for both fed and provincial incentives. The total price on this is $58K.

Ok, maybe …. But who is supposed to keep track of this nonsense….would be nice if they just state it clearly if it qualifies or not, just like many other OEM’s…. Oh well, maybe me and Hyundai are not meant for each other … :-(

I thought, we are getting hooped with Doug’s special surcharge or something ….LOL

If those fees are in fact allowed to be deducted from the list prices it is still razor thin as to whether it qualifies. Like pennies... Deduct $1835 freight and pdi from the Essential and it's STILL over the $45K limit. There better be other "fees" to deduct to tip the balance.
 
Yep, the etc does certainly does count :)
The dealer was pretty definite about the rebates. I tend to believe him even though Hyundai sucks at communications.
Figure if an ID.4 at $58K qualifies then so can the Ultimate.
In my case this doesn't matter anyways, we decided to pull our Ioniq 5 Ultimate reservation. The ID.4 is coming in December. We'll decide then if we'll go for it or wait for the Kona batteries and news on the Ariya or Tennessee release of ID.4.
 
I'm out of the running anyway. The price and the fact that the Ultimate trim doesn't get any rebate is just the final straw for me.

I love the look of the car but there are so many shortcomings it's just turned me off. Forced to buy things I don't want to get things I do want. Dumb 20" tires, range killing AWD, no rear wiper, disappointing range and efficiency, missing features like only one reclining seat, flip down glove box rather than drawer type... and the list goes on. I'll take my new Kona battery and drive for years on that, happy not to have a car payment to think about.

Just out of curiosity, how does a $58K ID4 qualify?

So a "package" doesn't raise the MSRP in the eyes of the government?

Maybe the Ultimate"package" is exempt too then? That's probably where the questions lie.

That was our feeling on the 20" tires as well. Lack of rear wipers when we live in a rain forest also suck. The other thing I don't like about it is the ground clearance. I want a higher ride to make getting into the car easier. Both the ID.4 and Ariya have that.

Wise decision to wait it out, perhaps in the near future Ontario will have their provincial rebates reestablished (at one time the best in Canada).
With a new pack installed in your Kona EV , time is now on your side:)
 
Literally a day late but I actually got an update email from Hyundai about my order. Price $59,999 and I'm number 198 in line. Build date December.

I would not hold my breath for Ontario rebates, for a number of reasons … Liberal majority is out of question, because we are divided like everyone else. It will be some razor thin government, who will have many other large issues, other then EV incentive. Secondly, the fact that most EVs are sold out ahead, or have long delivery times, is a sign that people get it and simply buy EV with rebate or not, because it just makes more sense for them. If it wasn’t for pandemic causing chip shortage, we would really start seeing EV prices to breath on gas car prices, especially when one looks at TOC rather that entry price. The governments will clue in soon enough….

I decided to go and order Polestar 2, FWD. I just felt it was a much better deal/car in my scenario. If that car was not available or would be beyond my budget, I would simply wait probably 2-3 years, driving my ICE to the ground. This way I can unload it and still get a decent trade-in coin for it. Everyday there is a chance something expensive will go wrong on it, and that would be money down the drain fixing it.

I like to think Hyundai Canada read my post and thought "Informing customers? Shoots, sounds like a genius idea! Send everyone an automated email notice asap."

All kidding aside, glad to see Hyundai finally is getting their act (sorta) together, hopefully communication with the Ioniq 5 (and future cars) between Hyundai Canada/Dealerships/customers gets better moving forward.

The Cdn federal government page for EV rebates is updated to include the IONIQ 5.

But that doesn't settle the debate. If the Ultimate counts as a "trim", its cost is too high, and it won't be eligible, so it won't show on the list. If it is not a trim, but an option/package, it also won't show on the list, since the list doesn't include other options like ski rack, tow hitch, etc...

They don't list trim levels that didn't qualify.

So we still don't know, or is my logic wrong?
